This really breaks my heart,

Since I was 9 years old I have been visiting the Juke Box Museum here in Houston. Later on I always enjoyed seeing the signs and pumps outside Johns shop as I drove to and from work. then one day the pumps were gone, I drove by for a week until I saw the gate open and went inside. I asked about John only to find out he died, is anything for sale? No its being taken by auctioneer today. It really made me sad to know that such treasures were leaving Houston only to be scattered around the country. I was able to be the last person ever to take a tour of the museum literally as Hal Hunt was driving up.

Well, if anyone here is looking for a jukebox or gas memorabilia here is the opportunity of a lifetime.

It took five 18 wheelers to haul everything away, last weekend they had part one of the auction with thousands of items, this will be part two. If anyone goes take some pictures would ya?

....$#@&*%....would have liked to know about last week's auction last week...there's at least one piece I would have tried to get, and two BBQ Chicken would have been interested in...

...regarding the jukeboxes: we, as a people, just have no sense of style anymore, we must have lost it after WW2...those things are downright surreal...dumbfounding...I swear there's more imagination in the design of a 1940's Coke fountain dispenser (or toaster, for that matter) than there is in the entire contents of a modern appliance store...

...if hit the Powerball, I'd buy every one of those old jukeboxes in the second auction...it'd be a $#@^%& auction for everyone else...the guys who had the jobs designing those things IN THE 1940's could have worked for Disney...

Looking for better Gulf items: signs, globes, cans and paper - especially porcelain Gulf flanges, and Gulf A-38 & A-62 ad glass...

I agree 100% with you gulffiend! Everything today is so steril. I heard the estate was purchased for a figure in the millions..There are two jukeboxes in the collection that are one of three known in the world.

This guys warehouse was a real sleeper, you would never know what he had if you never went inside.

I hate to admit that I didn't know about John's museum and I have lived in and around Houston all my life. What street was it on? I wonder why his heirs didn't use a local auctioneer.

It was on the corner of Cedel and Bingle, I wondered why they took his collection to Alabama as well.
