Hey everyone. Seem to have a lot of buying opportunites lately.

This is probably a no brainer, but maybe I just need some encouragement.

I have a chance to buy this. It's a 1950 Vendo 6 Case cooler. The compressor is shot, rest is not in bad shape. Original. Some dents and dings. He has like $150 in resto parts for it.

He's asking 400. I think I can get it for 300. What would you do?

I wouldn't pay more than $300 for the unit (if you really like it) and probably would try to give $250. Compressors are not cheap and it may not be the right Coca Cola machine to spend $$$ on. Just my opinion!

Picking it up in the morning (well earlier anyway)

I offered 250 and he said that was fine. Has resto parts from Funtronics (the only outfit that makes Coke Machine resto parts) that cost 150, so I will consider this a decent buy.

We'll see how it all comes together........

...nice machine, no brainer for sure...I would think the original paint would make that at least a $300 item just as a display item, that didn't dispense Cokes...how many collector's gas pumps dispense gas?

Thanks for all the input!!

We went and got it this morning. It really wasn't that bad to move weight wise. A refridgerator cart helped and it just slid into the back of the pick up.

I kinda like it because it's not huge and once I get it running I can put anything I want in it.

It came with 250 bucks in parts according to the credit card receipt from FunTronics.

He said he was just sick of looking at it. I just kinda said OK, I can look at it with no problem.

I just plan on straightening it out for now and putting the replacement parts on it and maybe get some more decals to dress it up. I'll worry about getting it working later.

Thanks again!! I take photos of my progress.

Very good buy, The shelves are correct as Mark mentioned, and a FYI for anybody restoring old soda machines Funtronics is not the only parts supplier. www.sodajerkworks.com carries a large selection of good parts as well. I bought a ton of parts this week for a VMC 81 im building.

...decals, schmecals - there are enough over-restored 'carnival-ride' Coke machines out there...that thing's so clean, I'd replace the missing parts, get it running and leave it...it don't need dressing up...it's right and tight as-is...

Great buy, and nice origianl machine.
I was going to say that you have at least a few hundred dollars in parts alone, so it was a good deal.. Just get it up and running and don't over restore it and you'l love it.
Great find.
if you have questions, let me know
