Scott or anyone else, who had the Aetna Auto Assn sign for sale? If you know, have them call me 502-827-0256. I might be able to talk Mick into picking it up for me. Also, thanks for posting the pics.

In the 9th and 11th picture...the OK Chevy sign, the
Dodge/Plymouth sign and the Marshall Wells Hardware sign behind it look like the ones that were in the auction in Montana in May.

Its good to be back home but I am already planning the trip for next year.

Here are a few thoughts I had from the show:
There was more 'stuff' then I have seen in a while, the vendor count was up but I think foot traffic was down a bit. There was plenty of low and about normal high end pieces. The mid range items I thought were priced above normal, low end items dirt cheap in some cases and the high end items about what you would expect.

There were more globes for sale then I had seen, less rare pumps and an abundance of cans. The auction tomorrow has more 'good' items then I have seen at an auction in a LONG time.

Each year I read that everyone wants to go to the show next year. I highly recommend you attend. This show is unique in its size and offering of items to fit all collectors budgets. Particularly on some of the low end items, they were just plain cheap.

Yes, that's me in the number 9 slot. Thanks Mick for helping organize and posting this picture. Got back this morning and what can I say but another incredible year. I think the highlight of my show was seeing and holding the $49,000 set of Gilmore lenses, and drinking of course. See everyone next year.

Scott--That is just toooooo funny!! I haven't heard about how the broken globe thing happened yet, or how it became attached to a certain old gasser but it has to be a good story! Probably not funny since there was obviously a broken globe involved but, to keep lasting this long--it must be a good story?---KEVIN

C'mon Jarvis--Tell the broken globe story for the newcomers here on Old Gas. Its one of my greatest fears when handling those expensive globes! I actually witnessed a dumb accident with (luckily) a repop globe at an auction sale last week! The buyer of a restored visible set about moving the pump and the globe fell off the top and hit him in the head before breaking on the cement! ALWAYS remove the globe before moving the pump! RIGHT!!

Great show and I enjoyed meeting some of you there. There were many more oldgassers at the show that are not pictured in the photo so we had a big group there. Some that come to mind include Ed Steagall, racecop, booboom, Esse's Garage, superamerica man, gasoline alley and myself and probably many others that I did not meet or recognize.

Had a good time at the show. Made a stop on the way to buy some nice stuff and had some more stuff delivered to the show. A lot of venders and a lot of nice stuff for sale. Some of the prices were as expected, some were way high in my opinion, like all years. Missed the auction, there was a lot of nice stuff that sold. There was one can I wanted, a friend bid on it for us but didn't win it. Some more pictures, some may be repeats.

For what it's worth, I'm #13 in the picture. This was my 6th or 7th. Iowa show and, by far, the best. I met more Old Gassers then ever before and had a chance to share some stories. I enjoyed being abel to introduce my wife, Mary Sue around. I've never bought like this year and brought home some real "gems"...thank you to the sellers who gave me some real good buys, Butch Greer & Dan Matthews both helped me. I think Scott is right on about the foot traffic and hopefully we will see an upturn in the economy for next year because I won't miss this show...ever.
Thanks to everyone who made this a special trip

I agree with Ray, looks like vendor count was up, and foot traffic was pretty good. I too see a turnaround in the hobby and the economy. Great show.

My brother had the TYDOL sign by the Rich's Ice cream sign. The TYDOL did not sell and only one of his two Rich's sold. Shoot me a PM for his contact info if you are interested.

Aquatic
My brother had the orange and blue United States Tries sign and I believe the Case Brothers had the blue US tires sign. My brother sold his sign. The Buick sign was down from us a couple spots, I do not have a name for him.

Thanks to Scott, Mick, Roadrelics, Wes and the others who posted pictures of the show. Some NICE looking stuff there. I noticed there were a LOT of Hat badges in the auction this year. Here are the results http://www.proxibid.com/asp/catalog.asp?aid=20317 . The only person I have even know that had that many hat badges was Ace Feek From Chelan Washington and I heard a few weeks ago he had passed away awhile back. Does anyone know if these were his? Super nice guy with a non stop smile that a number of years ago would wear his gas station hat LOADED with probably 20 - 30 high dollar hat badges to the local swap meets and gas shows where he was a vendor and buyer. Hat must have weighed 10 pounds! Always had a display case full of badges and some nice oil cans for sale. Will miss seeing him at the shows.

I've been attending since '95 and still believe if one is not there on "setup day", you miss seeing a lot of stuff. For the first time, I made a point of meeting people that I only knew from the phone and emails, and that made the trip worthwhile.

Does anyone know the vendor who had a room next to the courtyard (south side) who had two 15" round Texaco porcelain signs for sale. His room was open Wed, but had to leave before he opened up on Thursday. Thanks, Dave

Gaspumpman,
Yes these were Ace's badges, along with cans, signs, and globes.
Bruce Miller and Ace caused the prices of hat badges to go through the roof while they were alive and collecting. I wound up with the Tydol-Veedol badge lot. I had hoped to get the Douglas and the Conoco, but the prices that a couple of California and a Louisiana collector were paying were unbelieveable!Pat

Sorry no Power Lube stuff. This was my haul to Iowa Gas last year. I only brought 4 pumps back home. My truck will have a few more pumps this year but no clockfaces. Hope to see a lot of people there again this year.
