I called the Holiday Inn tonight and they got the list from the promoters for reservations today. They tell me they should have everyone entered in the computer by the end of the week. Anyone bringing any unrestored 30's era gas pumps to the show?

We are bringing a boat load of pumps. Something like 30 as that is about all we can haul. Some will have to stay home. A couple 30's era in the batch I think.

Did a mapquest total of miles and hours for this years trip to Iowa Gas as i have to pick up a few things...ONE WAY...total is 2220 miles taking 36 hours driving.....Anybody out there top that????

Last year Frankpl & I did approx. 2100m going w/ a trailer, I let him drive about 100m.
In 1999 I went from here to Albq., NM, to La Junta, Co. to Burlington, Co to Bismarck, ND, [to pickup a friend & his pumps]. Back South to just East of Omaha, Ne. before heading to IG. Total 2766m & 42 1/2h. [according to the map].
Usually do 1800-2000 going.

Yea, I got to drive on the edge of a storm in the middle of the night in New Mexico I think and almost hit a deer with the trailer, co-pilot works for me, I always drive everywhere, it's good going with Dick and his coffee mug, he hardly ever gets tired and I get to look at the scenery, Thanks Dick..Frank

This will be my 15th trip. Have had 3 trips w/ Frankpl, 2 w/ Gaspump Rob, one 1/2 trip w/ st.rod & another w/ Thunder & a short stint w/ guy from Bismarck. ALL good co-pilots ! LOL This Fantasy qt was inspired by 1st trip with Frank;

Had a great time motoring with Dick . The second trip his TPS sensor decided to act up causing erratic shifting of the trans going up over the mountain roads in CO. on the way home . Trailer was loaded with pumps and we were not sure if we would make it home. Dumped a couple of pumps off the trailer in Las Vegas at a second home to lighten the load to california. We made it without trans damage!! How many miles are on thet trans now Dick? My first went out out 90K and the second now has about the same but it still feels strong. Rob

I can't wait for Iowa Gas. This is always a great show with lots of rare items. I will be there again this year with several unrestored gas pumps, 15 or so, and maybe a few pump parts depending on what I can haul. I will also have a few smalls and oil cans.

One of my favorite parts of the trips have been stopping at different places along the way, I have met some great people on these trips, It's fun to stop and visit, hopefully buy something or just visit for a while. One of my favorite stops is with Andy and Dianne at Gas pump Heaven, They have always treated us Great with the tour of the shop and the pump graveyard outback, I always try to get all the parts I need while there and then it's off to their home and then Dinner, Always a great time then off to Des Moines, Hopefully I'll go next year again...Frank

Hope so since my wife and two daughters are coming with me. Been a long time since hotel was sold out. Wonder if its all Iowa Gas or are they booking people for the other events? Pat

Scott, there are two old working man's motels on Hickman rd. east of the interstate. I stayed there one year with my dog during IG. We both lived thru it. Cheap and dirty don't need reservations. The police were knocking at the door next to me at two in the morning. The junior olympics were going that year to. On the plus side there were some resturants close by. I was thinking about coming out for the auction but I might change my mind. Mitch

2PM on Thursday sounds like good time....things should be pretty much wound down by then. It's been ten years since my last visit to Iowa gas, but as I recall finding one of the few shady spaces outside shouldn't be too difficult. I'll be setting up in "room-to-room" with a few signs and smalls, then working with Dan Matthews at the auction on Friday. Hoping to meet as many of you as possible.......so if you attend the auction and see a 62 year old guy with a short gray beard in the crew, that would be me!! If we haven't already met, I hope you'll introduce yourself!!

My spaces are 28 and 29...da shade...we tried to do this last year and it never happened...now the year db and I can't make it it might happen...Puregas will be using space 29 and Hemibird and powerlube will use my space 28 to go with there's (26 & 27)..
You can bet that db and I will be there in 2010...like db said thursday 2010...
OBTW I will always renew my spots even if I don't go...I would never get those spots back if I ever gave them up.

Anyone going from Chicago to Iowa Gas??
I have a sign that I need picked up...have $50 gas money if anyone can swing it...

Well we are loaded and ready to go. 3 trucks & 2 trailers loaded with 38 pumps which include 2 clocks, 2 visi's, 2 curbs, and lots of tall and short electrics. See you at the show spaces 78, 79 and 1. Have a great show everyone. We are leaving in the morning.

Got here last night at 7:30p.m. Already a lot of people here. Brought the family so we are going shopping today(the things we do to keep the women happy).Iowa is having a sales tax free weekend so the wife and girls are scoping everything out today and going back on friday to buy to save the tax(while I'm at the auction). As said earlier, I will be in Paddy's booth this year. You might ask,"how did you gat Paddy's booth?" It took a Ride With Rose Globe and a Stanacola sign. Dang!
