I am slowly progressing on my first pump, a Tok 300.
I have taken the Veder Root to the car wash, pressure washed it, dried it and put PB penetrating oil to it.
How to I start to free it up? Should I work on the small shaft at the bottom? Is there a lever or something I need to release to make the gears turn? The whole thing looks like a crossword puzzle all in the same color to me.
Second, its pretty rough looking so Im thinking of painting it, here at home, out of an aerosol can. Any suggestions?

Best advice is to send it to Joe Yocom and have him restore it.....he is the best at it, bar none....call him at 770-214-0165.

About 90% of the computers I get are stuck - they can be freed up by playing with the side of the computer where the gas pump set back crank attaches with its dog bone - there is a little oblong flat peice of steel with a spring on it that the shutters fall down into - this is the area that the units get stuck at most of the time. WD40 this area and move the wheels back and forth and also might help to remove the spring - and it should pop out and free up. Then wd40 the whole thing and put the spring back on. It would not hurt to lube up the gears once you get it working with transmission fluid.

Hope this helps

PS - I would also take the bottom of the computer off before you get started - there are 4 bolts that hold the "wheel" area on the round bottom - these parts can be taken apart and put back together EASY by anyone... Only 4 9/16 bolts hold the top on the bototm.

Also do not paint it - do not take the wheels or gears out or apart - you will never get it right again.

If you have to just soak the whole unit in a 5 gallon bucket full of simple green - you can get it at wallmart - do not dullite it - full strength... Take the 2 parts of the computer "top and bottom" apart using the method stated about in my last post and they will each then fit in a 5 gallon bucket soak them for about a week fully covered in the simple green and take to the car wash and spray them out.

Sometimes I have to completely disassemble the Variator just to get one to turn.
There are 3 range arms,3 sets of planetary gears that all turn the bottom out-put gear
that computes money, they all run off the cone gear on the bottom...There are about 100
different places on the entire variator that could get stuck....wheels & gears& range arms......There are over 100 parts to a set of (18)wheels....Joe

After I get it started to free up, I take a flat piece and put it in my drill. Then on the bottom the is a little x piece that originally went to the pump. I stick it in that x slot and run the drill while spraying PB blaster on everything. Frees it up really good.

Then you will be able to put a motor on the bottom to make the computer work. I used a rear wiper motor out of a Jeep Cherokee. Just have to remove the stop that makes it reverse back and fourth.

Most pumps dispensed at or near 10 GPM.
There is 4 revolutions per Gallon on the computer, this would calculate to 40 rpm.
This would be the range your motor would need to be.The bottom of a 5 gal bucket makes a good mount...the plastic helps absorb the noise the motor might make.

Thanks got the great adiice guys. Ive been busy, but guess Ill look for some simple green this week and try the drill trick.
Travis, how much Simple Green do you get? Ive only seen 16oz bottles. Do I need a few gallons to soak it in a 5 gal bucket?
