Is it just me, or does this globe look a little strange? It's eBay auction # 7243485376

Here's a picture from the listing......

The following picture is the original globe that Rex Benson sold at his auction last January.........

The red line at the bottom center of the first globe pictured above looks to me to be "out of place" compared to other originals I've seen. Anyone got any opinions? I'm not aware of this globe being repo'd as a one piece globe....but maybe I just missed it.

Richard

The lettering is definately different too. I am not aware of this one piece repop either but would be interested to find out as I couldnt afford a real one and always loved this gargoyle one piece globe.

There are different versions of the Gargoyle globe....one is large, one is small. One has and embossed outer oval, the other has a DEbossed outer oval. Of course, nothing would suprise me repop wise, but I jus think these are different original versions.

The cost to make a mold to blow the glass in would far outway any amount of potential profit that could be made from the piece. Maybe someone has gone to the trouble, but I can't see it. Seth is right, there are several different versions of the cast Mobil gargolyes. I even heard of a completely baked on version once. Many different glass companies made globes in the day with many different techniques of doing it.
