Depending on rather you make a male or female vac-buck, Aperson could make the male out of wood and pull the plastic over it. A female would require a mold to suck the plastic down in and would have to have a slick finish. Just my .02 worth

More than likely there is a lip on the bottom edge so it would require a female mold with hinged flippers to allow for demolding.

It is Concave around the base, but would not be necessary for static display. Would have to be done in a female mold w/ flippers because of recess behind site glasses.

Thats why I reccomended the use of latex to make the copy your pour it around the outside of the glass. Once the latex dries just peel it off the original, then pour plaster or resin in to make the copy from the latex. Just like hollywood does to make full head masks. The latex would not endanger the glass at all. It would be the safest way to replicate it.

I am going to try and make one out of fiberglass. I started with a piece of styrafoam and go from there.

Not bad at all Matt. Maybe if you get that to work out, you can make some replicas to sell. You would be helping a lot of us out. Keep up the good work.

It does look good. Just needs a tweak or two to be close. The original seems to have a very slight angle on the sides instead of straight up and the recess behind the sight glassis a little bit closer to the metal then on your foam one. Otherwise, it is real good.

I have a glass top for the Erie and would let some one copy it for a repo. Just let me know. I also have a clock face unit I would sell.
