Well, I will be breaking ground for a fifties style Pure gas station. The size is 38x30. After a long search to no avail I found a company that is making the exterior panels for me. I will let you know of our progress and will post some photos when it's all done. I can hardly wait.

Terry,
Sounds like a dream many of us have. Take us along with you by sharing pictures of the process. I'll help post them if you need it.

Jeff Wilson runs the "Gas from the Past" restoration shop in Peculiar, Mo. south of Kansas City. Inside his building he put a vintage 1950s porcelain Pure station building. The service bay is his paint booth and the office is his office. The driveway area is his restoration workshop. It is wonderful to see. If you get the chance, it would be valuable to you to visit or at least talk with Jeff. Here is a peek, click to visit his site.

Jim, Thanks for the link. Seeing that Pure station made my "viagra" kick in. I will be glad to send you some pics to post as we make progress.
I am about 1 hour east of Columbus in Coshocton County. Coshocton Co. is sort of the advertising capital of the world. The American Art Works was located here that made most of the Coca-Cola Trays. Check your oil-top pens and pencils, they made those also. Located here was also the Meek Company, Novelty Advertising, The Beech Company and Shaw Barton advertising company that produced mainly advertising calanders and other advertising specialties. Oh, by the way, tell all your wives and girlfriends the Longaberger Basket Co. is just down the road in Dresden.
I love this site and hang around here alot.
Thanks again,
Terry

Now I don't think a road trip would be a wise thing to do , if Danielle finds out that Longaberger baskets are just down the road I'll be broke in no time , Gas pumps are cheeper I think HA HA

Well, We broke ground yesterday and also broke the neighbors phone line digging the footer.
Hope that is the only thing to go wrong on this project.

Hey Terry we're practically neighbors! Well almost. I live up north of you off of 77. In Canton. 1½ hours maybe. Road trip time in the Hot Rod for sure. When it's warmer.

Terry sent in these pictures of the progress on his Pure station. It is 30 x 38.

We're livin' this dream with you Terry. Wish I had the room to do that. Hey, we could start up an organization to help other enthusiasts build the retro station of their dreams. How about calling it "Habitat for Oldgasoholics" ?

Well the weather is somewhat co-operating. The sides and roof are on. We only have 50 or so panels to make and then they can be fastened on. Just got the blue shingles in today to put on over the peel-n-seal.
I hope to be posting some more pics soon.

Thanks for posting the pics. It is coming along pretty well. We started puting on the panels for the siding the other day. Blue on the bottom row and the rest is white. I have a fellow coming after the siding is all on to put blue pin stripe around the top.
I am hanging and finishing the drywall myself and remembering why I stopped doing drywall years ago.

Terry really has it starting to look like a real Pure Station now. He says that siding is a real slow process. This is going to be cool.

Thanks for all the compliments. The neighbors have'nt really said too much. I think they all figure I'm nuts by now anyway.
I have a Pure oil sign on the original pole that we are going to erect out front of the building. It's 18ft. tall and 6ft. in diameter. I am waiting for the time when some litle old couple pull's in late at night and wants me to change a tire. lol

I thought you'd like this link with lots of pictures of old porcelain panel gas stations.

Be sure to click on "Ice Boxes page 2" while you're there to see even more.

Now everyone who wants a station like these at their house, raise your hand!

I probably won't put any pumps out front. I will keep them inside. I am afraid of the weather being too rough on them and also the temptation of vandalism.
We live in a small subdivision and crime here is the occasional barking dog or a cat fight. I guess worrying about the weather is kind of silly, I doubt any of the old gas station owners took their pumps in at nite.
I have a restored Tokeim 39, a restored Bennet 756 and of course my recently purchased Rapid Dayton Visable.

Well I put the last coat on the floor today. Don't let anyone tell you that U-coat-it is real simple and easy. It took a little more than what they tell you but, It sure looks good.

Well, I am moving in at last. It has been a real project and an enjoyable one most of the time.
The floor is from U-coat-It. It is an epoxy based floor coating that really is'nt that hard to put on. I would not reccommend it for inside a home especially in a basement. The fumes from the clear coat are extremely potent. I was afraid for someone to light a cigarette with-in 20 yards of the building when I was putting it on.
I am having a ball moving in and setting up displays and shelving for my collection. So far I have put the restored Vendo Coke machine in and my tall 39 done in Pure ofcourse. Most of my Pure cans and a showcase filled with little Pure give aways.
The whole thing turned out even better than I expected. It was a lot of work but it sure was worth it. I have had some visitors, mostly neighbors and friends and they have all said they had no idea how much it really looks like the real thing.
Thanks to all of you who have followed me along here with my dream, the folks who have posted pics for me and all who have inspired me with the great compliments. This site and the people who post on here are the greatest.
Thanks again,
Terry

Chris, I don't think I will put much outside. It is too tempting for the neighborhood kids to throw rocks at.
Our school district is in trouble now with money woes. They say the state gives $5000 per student and I would hate to see the school system lose anymore if I would catch a kid destroying something out here.

Well guys, I took the Rapid-Dayton visable up and a Tokeim 300 to be restored. I can't wait to get them both back and in the station.
I will post some pics when they return.

Hey Terry. Good thing you brought it back up, I was following your build, as well as other too, and have missed seeing it for a while. Please post more pics so we can drool over them. I think I can speak for everyone on here that it's been quite enjoyable watching you build your dream. Keep it goin'!

Terry...just found your post and will need to visit since we are very close to you in Dover...I can obtain what is supposedly the last Pure advertising billboard in Ohio but it's a huge one...maybe 20 feet long with lots of panels...

***WOW*** I'm just seeing this for the first time, how did I miss this? What a great place to hang out, work on cars and sip a few beers. I guess if these aren't around anymore, make your own!! But it DEFINATELY needs pumps outside. Just put some junk ones out that you don't mind if they get ruined. Just a thought.

I hope that someday my former service station could look as good as yours. At least you don't have to keep nearly 40 pages of documents on the UST's for your Pure station.

Terry, here is a picture of mine. I would like to put in the windows of the doors the Marfak Lubricattion and other signage. Still want to put some Texaco signs on the front as well. Your station is great. Did your wife think you were crazy when you wanted to start out on this?
