Well gang, it’s time for our second episode of FATW or Found Along The Way, “A Petroholics Journey on the Road to Discovery“.

Hope that all of you have been discovering some great things to share with us this month or that you will as you travel along.

Thanks to all of you that shared your photos with us on our first episode!

In brief, here’s what we like to see on FATW

Old or abandoned service stations
Pumps in the wild or on display
Petro finds in antique stores, junk shops or flea markets
Anything that you think we would find interesting that is Petro related.

So don’t be shy, post those pictures or send them to me so I can post them for you. Send me some information about your photos too, like where it is or what you like about it.

To start things off I will share some photos of the Petersen Automotive Museum that Al Barrows (Ranchpump) sent me.

If you haven't visited the Petersen Museum and you want to if you're in the LA area, here is the link:

http://www.petersen.org/

Now let's see those photos!

Replica Phillips 66 station along US HWY 18 in Sanborn Iowa. The pumps and air dispenser are the real deal. Other signs pumps cars and trucks in large building behind the station.

Better start the week out with one of my favorite finds....old barns! Seems like wherever there are barns there has to be some petro stuff.

I spotted this barn on Highway 46 between Paso Robles and Cambria California. Great drive if you're ever in the area.

I stopped and took the photo because I knew that there had to be a pump somewhere and sure enough I spotted this leaning pump next to the above ground tank.

KEEPING IN LINE WITH POOR MAN'S REQUEST FOR PUMPS IN THE WILD....
...HOW ABOUT SOME RURAL PUMPS LIKE THESE:

SPOTTED THIS WHILE CRUSING LOCAL NEIGHBORHOOD STREETS. I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT IT IS OR WHEN IT DATES FROM. PRE-VISIBLES? ANYONE? ANYONE?

THIS GARAGE IS ABOUT 4 MILES FROM ME. IT'S A RESIDENTIAL NEIGHBORHOOD AND THE GUY HAS SEVERAL UNRESTO'D PUMPS BEHIND THE GARAGE. THESE ARE OUT FRONT AS YOU PASS BY:

A FINALLY FOR THIS POST....WHEN RETURNING HOME FROM NE GAS BASH ABOUT 3 YEARS AGO ON ROUTE 9 SOUTH OF THE SHOW LOCATION I FOUND THESE 2 TOK39 TALLS:

THEY WERE ABOUT 15 FEET FROM THE EDGE OF THE ROAD! JUST BASKING IN THE SUN AND SNOW! COOOOL!

heres an old Texaco station we used to ride our stingrays down to as kids.
was located along hwy 52 & 2nd street. near St.Marys Hospital. 4 stations on all 4 corners of the bridge hwy 52 ran under.
i remember when they added the stone on the front & left side. i dont recall what the station looked like before? i just remember them adding stone on it.

the station was moved to where it is now (across town) around 1980. a friend of mine from school had it the last 10 years with soooooooo many cars sitting around there it was unreal.
hes a mechanic & sold cars & did good until the state bought it from him as they are running hwy 63 right through it.
last i talked to him he was buying the building back from the state for $1.00 & taking it to his farm.
he moved his business to an old sinclair station a few miles north of where this is.

"ITS LOOKED BETTER!" i believe its porcelain but was moved as a whole the last time it was moved.

i see the owner around now & then & he seemed to land in some real trouble. something about sleeping in his corvette along a busy road for some reason? & the police were knocking on the window. LOL!!!

>>>NO WAIT 5 STATIONS SAT NEAR WHERE THIS ONE ORIGINALLY SAT. -- CLARK, DX, SKELLY, STANDARD, & this TEXACO. they were all a stone throw from each other.
Skelly was our favorite as all the gearheads worked there & had there cars sitting out all the time.
This station "was" always real clean! - the Texaco man would yell out at us to "stand em up" (wheel stand) id pull er up & ride the back tire all the way across his lot (ONE DING across the bell) & wheelie all the way down the street! LOL!!! (this was on the stingray)
i do remember fueling up my chevelle there before it was moved.
HAAA females worked there. Texaco ladies. i almost forgot that. --- there were girls working the station so a friend of mine ran right over & got himself a job so he could work with them!!! LMAO! didnt last long they closed it down & moved it out & put a Hardees restaurant in its place!

Wayne Story is a GREAT guy. I bought my first sign off of him way back when. Haven't seen him in years though. How's his shop/pump yard looking? I may need to make a road trip

Hit the back roads of Kentucky Saturday every where we stopped I would ask any old gas station stuff around. One guy said go see this guy he sells everything!!!!!
This is one back building.

The Bennett and Gilbarco? are 4 sale wants $500 for the Gil/Gulf.

On the back of his building I found a KYSO sign that I didn't know existed,it was the same as many I have seen ONLY it was Red and White.Guy said he got it from Somerset,Ky.The sign is nothing special but if your a KYSO collector its a beauty in the eyes of the beholder.

THANKS REX

Great stuff guys. Here is a picture I took the very first year I went to the gas show in Evansville, Indiana. I can't remember the name of this neat little town it was in.
