Bob (Lastgas15) showed us these two neat cottages up in Kankakee during Peotone: Probably a Phillips 66 I'm not sure on this one - any ideas?

Along one of the oldest stretches of highway in Illinois... I wonder if this may have been some kind of truck stop? One of only a few 2-story stations I've come across, and very differently built compared to the others I've seen. It looks like someone uses it for junk storage - what a shame!

This is outside of Coburg Or. I believe it to be a contrived display, but pretty neat nonetheless. Rod By loftbed By loftbed

Thermactor, from what I can determine the "Tan" colored station was probably a Philligs Oil station . The Truck stop is rare also. Wayne Henderson is probably the man on this but there is a similar station here in Richmond Va. on #1 or Jeff Davis Hwy. near the Model Tobacco bldg. Meanwhile in Ashland Va., north of us there is a Texaco Truck stop that was built in the late 1930's with "Glass" brick. Somehow , the Hanover county Historical society was able to keep the building from being torn down . Ed Shaver

Found this rural station on a back road in mid-Michigan. I don't know anything about its history, but from the color scheme on the pump I'd guess it may have been a Pure station?? I have more pictures of this location if anyone is interested I can post them up.

This one is in a tiny ghost town in Michigan's "thumb" area. Looks to have been a general store. Again I have several more pictures of this station if anyone wants to see them let me know.

I also found this Wayne 70 on the same trip. The old boy was still using it on the farm and he put it into action for me and filled his tractor...pretty cool. ------------------

Here are a few more pictures of the general store/gas station: This place is a virtual time capsule. These are a couple of vintage signs that were on the building: Barely legible "Fresh Up 7-UP" sign: Old Lucky Strike ad in the window, looks like it's painted on? Not sure: Thanks for the compliments, I wish I knew more about the history of this building. I will post some more pictures of the other station later on tonight.

THAT GENERAL STORE IS VERY AESTHETICALLY PLEASING TO THE EYE! AMAZING THAT THE PUMP IS STILL THERE AFTER ALL THIS TIME. LIKE A DEGRADING TIME CAPSULE.

Okay, I didn't have as many photos of this station as I thought I did, but here are a few more. I thought this might have been a Pure station at one time based on the blue and white pump, but I'm not sure, anybody know? There was a coat of red paint under the blue and white as well.

Thanks for posting the additional pictures!
Looking in the restoration book, the paint scheme jives with Pure Pep from 1955-61 or Pure Firebird from 61-70. Or, it could have last been Union 76 Regular from 70 to the 80s, after the buyout. The red underneath could be the pump's factory paint, or from a previous branding.
Looks like someone stole it's friend... I bet there was a Pure Premium pump next to it.
Keep up the great pictures, guys!
Wes

Thanks for the reply Wes... I thought it might be Pure but I'm still new to the world of petroliana so I wasn't certain. Did you still want me to email the photos to you?

Since you posted the pics, that's even better than emailing them. Thanks, and keep 'em coming!

I found this old G&B 86 on a recent road trip in Iowa. It's been at the same location since the 40's and still pumps gas. I'm going this weekend to pick it up. It's still out there! [This message has been edited by Coops 427 (edited 11-19-2008).]

Nice find Coops... amazing that that pump has been in the same spot for 40 years and not been grabbed by another collector yet!
