We've been working hard to improve the Showcase and Stories forum. We've got some new features coming out, and we're making some changes. Please read this entire post so you can keep on top of the changes.

First I want to welcome Curt Cragg to the Showcase team. Curt will be hosting "Found Along The Way" (FATW).
Here's what FATW is all about and how it will work:
We all see interesting stuff when we're out hunting petro items. This feature will be about those items, people or places.
On the 5th Curt will post Found Along The Way, January 2005.
Then he'll post your pictures and stories of things you've seen while hunting petro.
Curt will post your pictures for this feature if you need help. You can post pictures yourselves also.
What is allowed in FATW: Anything petro we see while traveling. Abandoned, pumps, stations. Antique mall finds, etc.
Once you or Curt post the pictures jump in and tell the story behind them.

What isn't allowed in FATW:
Anything that the person submitting the pics and story owns including new buys. Newly bought items should go in Buys Of The Week.
Any story that would be better suited for Collector Story Of The Month. This could be a judgement call. I don't want feature to infringe on another.
Pictures of unidentified pumps. Those should be forwarded to Neal Dunn (Gas Pump freak) for his quarterly feature on unidentified pumps. (That feature is changing too so keep reading!
Any item or story that isn't 100% "family friendly".
Show reports. Those are best suited for the Petro News forum where they are found now.
Found Along The Way will officially bebut January 5, 2005.
Curt's email address is:
thepoormansmuseum@verizon.net

Second,
We weren't totally satisfied with some aspects of Neal's Unidentified Pump Of The Quarter so we're making some changes. We're renaming it and scrapping the quarterly schedule. It will now be known as "Neal's Pump Challenge" (NPC) and it will be a monthly feature.
Here's how NPC will work:
Neal will post NPC January 2005.
He'll post pictures of unidentified pumps for you guys to identify. If a pump doesn't get ID'd it will continue to be posted until it is ID'd.
The months Neal doesn't have any unidentified pumps to post there will not be a NPC feature. Neal prefers to post the images for this feature so if you have a pump you want ID'd email a picture to him at:
haninfrared@msn.com

To keep things interesting Neal is going to throw in a close up picture of a part or section of a common pump on occassion to see if you can guess what it is.

Don't forget about Ethan's "Best Of Showcase and Stories 2004". You can see what it's all about in a topic titled:
Best Of Showcase and Stories 2004
Be sure to vote in any or all catagories!

Gary Drye will start his new feature called "Remember When" in the first week of the month. This feature will give us some perspective of where our hobby was 10 years ago.

Sadly Collectible Of The Week is coming to an end. Scott Shipers has done an outstanding job of bringing this interesting feature to us. Please take a few minutes to thank Scott for a job well done.
quarts@mindspring.com

Tom is overseeing CSOTM. We all have interesting stories about something in our collections. Be sure to contact him to get on the list to tell your story!
thyke1@charter.net

BOTW, QOTM, SOTM, CSOTM, GOTM,MOTM,POTM, and ROTM will all continue unchanged.
We have more things in the works to make this forum even more interesting so stay tuned!

Thanks to Doc, Hubba, Scott, Ted, Tom, Neal, Jason, Curt, and Gary for taking the time to host their respective features. And a great big thank you to all the people that contribute to our Showcase features!

sounds good. good work everyone! & THANK YOU TOO!

What im missing & maybe others are also are "THE NEW RELEASES" --- Pogo, vintage logos, Ron Scobie & all the other oldgassers are good at keeping us u-2-date on their new items.

BUT it would be nice to know when any other NEW items hit the market anywhere from anyone.
is this possible? would it need its own forum? how could this be done?

i dont want to be left out when a GENUINE hot rod fuel globe hits the market or these wayne 800s or romans come around. or any new signs or any petro become available.

Tom,
Vendors can post their "New Releases" in the For Sale or Trade forum.

It's a shame more guys don't use that forum.
Items that are for sale can be posted in this forum, but they can't be advertised as such. In other words a dealer can post his Shell globes in GOTM, but he can't say they're for sale.
