Hey Guys, He told me he wanted the guts in case he put in some kind of above ground Diesel tank.I was happy to leave those heavy things behind. I offered him 50.00 for that plastic 76 liteup sign but he said "no" in case he reopened the station as 76 again with newer pumps. I went back when they removed the sign from the pole hoping he would change his mind . The sad part of this story is I found out that they leaned that sign up behind the station and one of those violent desert wind storms blew it over and it shattered into tiny bits. It was probably very brittle from being out in the sun for many years. He wonder if he was sorry that he had not taken the 50.00 bucks for it.
This station was way off the beaten path. I told a fellow collector about this story and he told me that he wanted to look in this area for pumps one year before me but his friend/gaspump business partner said "no lets not waste any time driving way up there. "their is nothing out there" he was sore when I told this story. Don't give up there are plenty more still out there guys! Hop in that car or truck, gas up, and head for the hills!!
Happy hunting Rob

Way to go, Rob! This gives all of us hope that there are great pumps still in use and waiting for us to find them. The day to buy any antique is the day you find them. Don't ever put off a hunting trip. Take the time to go look. Thanks for the pics! Rod in Nebraska
