I am in the same boat. I have a wayne 60 I have finished restoring for my rec room down stairs. But it is too tall. I would no way in hell cut on this pump, so I will cut on my ceiling. I need about 5" also and it will be alot easier and cheaper to fix the drywall than to fix that pump!

My suggestion, don't do it!!!

I ran into the same problem with my gargoyle oil cabinet. I cut the sheetrock inbetween the rafters and raised it up about 4in. and framed it out with molding. You can see it in my last post. It was either that or cut the legs off the cabinet, and there was no way I was going to do that. So my 2 cents would be not to chop it up.

Since it wont fit in your house, now would be the perfect time to build that service station replica in the back yard, since you already have the pump for the island.Hehe
