Ok guys, I need some opinions!
This is my senior year of college, so I'm wanting to take some kind of weekend trip that dad & I both can enjoy. He really enjoys seeing all the different kind of advertising. Does the Indy Ad Show have a good variety of items? I've viewed the pictures on the website several times, but know sometimes pictures are deceiving!
What about prices? I figure most are at retail or above, but I would like to hear others opinions. Should I go ahead and pay to get in Friday afternoon or just go Saturday?
Again any opinion or stories are greatly appreciated!
Thanks Guys!

I went once and don't plan on going again. Not much gas and oil stuff when I was there. Maybe just a slow show. I bought one can and seen lots of fake items. Short drive from my house but wasn't impressed. There is neat stuff there though.
Quart and Liter can relidding and dent removal services.PM for detail and pricing. Collecting Mobil and other graphic quart cans.

I've never been, but know several people who have flown cross country for it for many years. It's known to have high end advertising pieces of all types- paper, cardboard, tin & porcelain. I'd like to go some day and think it would be a fun trip. I would definitely pay for Friday if going!

Being from Indy I'm a little biased but it's a great show the see all types of advertising. If you're a buyer Fri. is worth the extra $. Sat is fine if you want to check it all out. Not sure what the other poster saw that was fake but you would have to look hard as only original items are supposed to be for sale. More and more gas and oil every year as that's what's most popular now.

Went once and have not been back. Found one grease can worth the money. It is an interesting exhibit to look at if you like all types of antique advertising. Prices were quite high IMO.

Again, having not been, but basing on my knowledge of serious collectors who do go - I would agree that it is likely that prices may be "high" to most. However, I will wager that you will see many rare and outstanding pieces from guys who have been in the hobby/business much of their lives. If I had the opportunity, I'd sure go - especially if it was a trip with my dad

Thanks for all the feedback guys! I REALLY DO APPRECIATE IT! I don't plan on going to buy, but rather see items that I've never saw, or only saw in pictures. Dad and I have to work that Saturday, so looks as though I might pay the extra dollars to go on Friday!
Thanks again Fellas!

I have been a dealer at the Indy Ad Show for the last 3 years. In that time I have seen the quantity and quality of oil, gas and automotive advertising increase dramatically. The new promoters are very conscientious about maintaining a high quality advertising show with NO reproductions allowed. There is also a great selection of soda, and country store advertising as well. This is a great show to put on your list. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised...check out their web site at indyadshow.com for pictures of the Spring show...Hope to see you there!!

If you are looking for grease cans, composite quarts, or signs from the 70's this probably isn't the show for you... If you like high quality advertising, irregardless to the subject matter, this is the place for you.. Lots of great petro and auto advertising turns up at the ad show, it's a great education if nothing else.
You will NOT see fakes at this show, the promotors closely control what items are let in.
Enjoy, Keith

This is my third time going and I will never miss it. I have been in the hobby for years and some of the stuff that shows up here I have never seen before. Not just petro but all kinds of advertising. I have learned something new both times I have gone . The promoters are first class and run a great event. If you like quality advertising this is the place to go. Can't wait.

Great show, and in the last few years more and more gas and oil. Some rare items turn up, prices are reasonable, I always bring something home. Pay the $25 and come on Friday. www.indyadshow.com

If anyone is planning to travel thru the St.Louis area to the Indy Ad show please contact me. I am looking to have a large (11') sign transported from Fredericksburg, MO. It is currently located at another Oldgassers home.
I am willing to compensate for any help.
Thanks, Andy Hussar 330-575-3421
