I purchased another Wayne 70 yesterday and it had two original Wayne ad glasses in it that I had never seen before. I was just curious if the pumps would regularly come with Wayne ad glass unless a company glass was specified? Thought it was pretty cool with the dog and the Wayne logo.

I've been looking for an original piece of Wayne ad glass, for years... I never seem to be in the right place or if I am, I don't have the cash in my pocket to complete the deal...

Marshall, hopefully the info I am relaying is correct.

Jack, db, Randy and many others on the site; Know much more than I do about how the Pumps arrived at their "New Homes"... But, if I am not mistaken... A New Wayne Pump, could be ordered with or without the Wayne "Watchdog" ad glass...

Once in a while these come up on ebay. One of my Wayne 60s had one of these also. Don't know when Wayne started these ad. glasses.

Not easy to find. They do not show up a lot so I would say they were not used a majority of the time a pump was shipped. There would be more around. I would say they are scarce.

I'm trying to get all the glass to do a four ad glass 70.

kingshawn your box is full So....I'm interested.

Pumps were sold by Wayne a couple of different ways. When a oil company wanted to purchase new pumps for all their company owned stations in a location, say Chicago, Wayne would do anything to get the contract, including ad glass that said anything the oil company wanted.

There were also local petroleum equipment supply companies. In a city like St. Louis there would have been three or four of them at the time these 70s were being sold. One of these supply companies would represent Wayne. In the warehouse these companies would stock an assortment of pumps that were available at the time. When someone who owned one or two stations would contact them, the equipment company would send out a salesman. He would be equipped with brochures showing all the latest Wayne pumps. After the sale was made, and assuming the pump or pumps were in the warehouse, they would be delivered to the station. Incidentally, at the bottom of these brochures there was always a statement "standard color is red."

In addition to being painted red, Wayne wanted their pumps to look a nice as possible when they came out of the crate, so, there were ad glass in the panels. This ad glass would advertise either the pump company or would say something like "Drive Safely." Usually the oil company that was supplying product to the station would send out a salesman with decals and a globe for each of the pumps. Many would also supply replacement ad glass, but some stations (or possibly a large farm that bought a new gas pump) would not bother to change the ad glass, so many of them have survived. One (possibly more) has been reproduced as I have about six of them somewhere out in the garage.

With the interest shown above, who will decide to start a collection of all the different pump company supplied ad glass?

WAYNE 100's have this logo on the Faces. Jack might be able to confirm when WAYNE started using logo on their Brochures.

Beware these Adv. Glasses have been Repop'd.
