Is this thing real or repo? It's the darker yellow, not the bright yellow. Was told my a few collectors that is was real, what do you guys think?

Thanks,

Brian

It sucks that the repro companies use the old style flanged in the back grommets... cause after 5 or 6 years of letting that sign sit outside it would be a lot harder to tell... Then you have to rely on the way the porcelain looks, and it would be easier for a newbie to get ripped off...

FAKE
Pump plates have a RED background w/ dark YELLOW lettering & details. The word SHELL is not arched.

...if you left it outdoors for a couple of years, the porcelain would actually fade - the porcelain used on the newer signs is much thinner and doesn't hold the color...

Looking for better Gulf items: signs, globes, cans and paper - especially porcelain Gulf flanges, and Gulf A-38 & A-62 ad glass...

Brian I too believe that it is fake, not that means much.lol I picked up a sign just like that one off of ebay a month or so ago that was touted by the seller as "original". I paid $25.00. So if it is an original, I'm going out right now and buy a lottery ticket for I've hit the "motherload". I wrote in the online auction thread about a recent encounter with a seller who said that his repro sign was "original", because it was original to him. Please someone say its original and it will go on ebay tonight.lol

I got it in a deal with a bunch of stuff, didn't pay a ton for it, not even a lote for it.
