Built in the late twenties in Core de Adeline Idaho, this former wood structure was a Shell dealer , then a Richfield West coast affiliate . It was with us as a popular tourist spot until 1991 when a grease fire took the place out . A former member here provided a glimpse of the place in it's "Formative years ". "Gilmore" , a member here was kind enough to provide a few more much needed shots . Combining a few interviews with some of the family who owned the place , some further shots taken in the late seventies , I combined everything to do a model of the place how it may have looked in the early 60's . I showed it last year in Norfolk Virginia when Hurricane sandy was arriving on shore . Yesterday, amidst freezing rain, I showed again here in Richmond Virginia's Old Dominion model show . This will be the final show , well for Virginia . I'm considering traveling to North Carolina this summer with it .........

You do excellent work,Ed!

What does is the "wording" on the rear fin, read?

How long did the model take, from concept to completion?

Note to Bob:
"Camping"

" The Fish Inn "

The research took a couple of years Bob. The Chamber of Commerce in Idaho said they going to help, never did . I lucked into someone on one of the Plastic kit forums who used to stay there every year in one of the cabins . I also was able to interview a gentleman who used to go to the Fish Inn for dancing and a few beers . He was very good as he was able to describe the interior details , colors of the shingles , the kitchen lay out etc . he also got me an interview with a couple of the relatives of the fellow who once owned the place . They all live up in Washington, one in Florida now .

As for actual time to build this piece , I guess for me , it was record time . I spent probably three months with it as I wasn't doing anything all day . The fish skeleton is Foam Core . I cover that with Fiberglass , then a few coats of Bondo. I sealed it with the cheapest interior paint that I had and then spent three weeks straight gluing Birch shingles on that thing . Oh yes, one can buy "Fish Scale " shaped shingles at doll house stores . I bought three bags and used them all.

The gasoline pump, a Wayne 615, I have rubber molds for . I had it out in a day . Ed Shaver

Very nicely done Ed as always.
Why don't you post a couple of pictures of the original Fish Inn so the members can see the true artistry of your work.
