OK, I think I have the image loaded properly. This fire damaged/destroyed four gas pumps, several cars and a huge collection of petroliana. I have been trying to research values, but many of the items seem to be very rare. The building belongs to my brother-in-law. Over the last several years he has lost his sight so we are trying to work from his memory.

Are there any identification tags on it? That would be the best way to tell what it is. If not, looks like a Hawkeye to me.

Pump is a HAWKEYE DART 1924. IF it was restored IMO $3500-$4200.
Plus a what ever globe was on it.

A fire that hot really warps, bends, and literally changes the molecular structure of the steeel. Has, or would, anyone attempt a restoration of a pump in this condition? Just wondering what unique problems you might run into.

...first, let me say that you have my sympathies, that really sucks...

...but I have to ask: what insurance company do you have, that allows you to make a claim based on your memory?...I would think you'd need photos...

Looking for better Gulf items: signs, globes, cans and paper - especially porcelain Gulf flanges, and Gulf A-38 & A-62 ad glass...

The fire was in Red Wing Minnesota on January 18th 2013. I guess we will see what the insurance company will allow as far as his memories of the total contents. There is some photo documentation, but not enough. I would encourage anyone with any collections to take photos of EVERYTHING.

The other difficult question when dealing with the insurance is establishing value of rare items. The two fabric sales banners that I posted eariler don't seem to common enough that I can find anything even comparable on the web. Are there any reputable books that I should check out?

The "Live Power" banner is Standard Oil (Indiana), ca. 1934. Can't give you any values, but they advertised this slogan with elephants during the '33-'34 Century of Progress in Chicago.

My apologies for attempting to hijack your thread. It was just my first reaction to hope a rare pump could be salvaged. I am certianly not qualified to offer input on values of the items you are questioning. Good luck.
