I am posting these pictures for a friend. Has anybody ever seen one of these or know what it possibly is? We think it is some kind of a visi for natural gas?

I have two of these in my warehouse, They have a big tank under them. I was told they were for natural gas also but am not sure. Whenever i get over there I'll post pics of the complete set up.

I have a complete set-up with one of these on top. It's off of an old acetylene tank that they used in garages in the early days.
Sorry, but the unit is not at my home where I could take a photo for you. Sam

Water tank for an acetylene producer. It dripped water onto carbide to produce act. for early welding shops and garages etc.

Here is the 1 we used when I was a kid,Pictures aren't great it is stuck in the back of the chicken house. As has been stated earlier the carbide is put into the top part (you can still see some in through the glass) and when you lift up on the handle on top it meters carbide Into the tank below which has water in it, which in turn forms acetylene gas which flows to the pressure regulator attached to the side. You still had to purchase bottled oxygen and it was chained to the back of the cart where the carbide drum is sitting. According to dad it sure made it a lot simpler when we switch to bottled acetylene.

Blacktee, mine was made in late twenties. Strange thing happened; I google imaged the thing & found a pic of it in a museum in Tasmania of all places. Curator sent me a complete history of it, but now I can't find the info! Sam
