That collection is a VERY good example of those Fantasy made up neon signs being bought up by the deep pockets, There were a lot of peed of people after the auction when the signs were taken down and people learned what they had bought. Many came via way of Bettin, who Dingman bought from thinking he was buying original neon signs.

So were these original signs that had been later drilled for neon or were they new signs with neon?

Yes, we also saw that some of the signs were (neon added signs). Some people knew and some did not. For spending that much money each person should do their homework. Only problem is that those signs are now out there, and years from now some new person will not know and it will be passed along.

This puts me in the very odd position of appearing to defend Ron Bettin.

The legal situation is that we don't really know how Mr. Bettin represented the signs that he sold to Mr. Dingman in a private transaction. Original, drilled, whatever. I'd expect Mr. Dingman to have been knowledgeable in his transactions.

Readers should examine Mr. Bettin's past actions on eBay involving neon-added signs and determine for yourselves if the description language is clear or cloudy as to the originality of the neon added to signs that were not originally neon.
