Hi Guys,
It seems to me that 6' round signs are getting harder to find.At least around here.I can understand it on stuff like Frontier,Cosden and maybe Shamrock but even Texaco stars aren't turning up for sale very often.
I ask the question because I've been looking a long time for a couple I don't havemaybe a Derby and something else, and I'm not having much luck.Is it mainly an ABQ thing or are they getting scarce?Thank you for your time.

Hi Wendell, I never see 6' signs around here. Not much petro of any kind around here. The only 6' signs I own came from a swap meet in ABQ several years ago.

There are always MANY of the large signs at Iowa Gas Bash and they never seem to find buyers. There is a guy who I recently visited, can't think of his name right now but someone on this forumn will, located in middle of Florida near Ocala. He sets up at Iowa on the north side of the main building at Iowa and has mostly large signs at good prices and many many just lined up along the fence at his house. Can anyone give him the name that has just slipped from me

Most people are using them as decoration pieces that is why they are getting harder to find hence the price going up. I see a few around here. Most of them at the local swap meets are fairly priced but do not move. To most people (if they do not have a truck) they are a pain to transport.
The most valuable commodity I know of is information-Wall Street

Big signs have become more collectible in recent years. Prices on big signs in good condition have gone up quite a bit. Its not unusual to see a 6' old logo Phillips 66 or 6' Sinclair H-C in good condition bring $800 or more. A few years ago they worth half that or less. Big Sinclair, Phillips, Texaco, Cities Service, Standard, Pure are still quite common. Problem is finding one where the price matches the condition.
Wanted: Gas pump globes:Sinclair & affiliates, IL companies. Ripple bodies. Anything Sinclair, Stoll, Pierce, 4 Bros. http://www.lastgas15.com/

I agree with Lastgas. It is hard around here to find a price that matches the condition of the sign. I know where two 6 foot Texaco signs are sitting in a tobacco barn I've worked in. I have offered to buy them, work all season for free for them, but he won't get rid of them. He is going to paint over them and put "Beef Cattle" on them. It makes me sick....

True, but I could see them better preserving in MY BARN! LOL
If they stay where they are they will be beat to heck. I've worked there for for seasons cutting and housing tobacco(no use of the H2A program in this farm, quite rare in my parts). Since I've worked for him, I've seen people step on them, kick them, everything.

Nice guy, usually has on a straw hat. He has a ton of the large signs along his fence and sets up at shows all over the place (probably Iowa). Hope that helps some.
