Hey everyone, this sign has been on craigslist for a while now and I was wondering what everyone thinks its worth. I want it but I want to get some advice first. I checked Ebay and couldnt find anything similar to it. His ad reads "OLD PONTIAC OAKLAND PAINTED METAL CAR DEALER SIGN. 4 FEET H. X 8 FEET W"
Thanks a ton,
Tyler

That is a great sign!!! I am not expert but I would pay between $250-$300. Condition is not great but the sign does have a nice aged look. What is the asking price?

Last time I talked to him he was asking 400, that was probably about a month and a half ago. He had a few other signs for sale at the time also. Maybe I'll go check it out tonight.
Thanks for the fast response smile

WELL, IF YOU ARE BUYING PATINA AND ARE HAPPY WITH THE WAY THE SIGN LOOKS, THEN IT'S ENTIRELY UP TO YOU WHAT YOU WANT TO SPEND. HOWEVER, BUYING A SIGN THAT LARGE WITH SUCH HISTORIC SIGNIFICANCE, IT SHOULD BE PROPERLY DISPLAYED INSIDE TO PROTECT IT FROM GETTING ANY WORSE.

VERY COOL SIGN! PERSONALLY, I WOULDN'T PAY MORE THAN $150 FOR IT. IT'S NOT REALLY A TRUE COLLECTIBLE PERSAY, MORE OF AN ADVERTISING PIECE OF ART IN MY BOOK.

Well I'm calling him in a bit, I'll let you guys know what he says. If I do get it, it will be hung inside so no worries there Doc.
Thanks again.

AMEN......

Cool sign. Most of these 4'x8 signs were used as road signs. Many have a reflective sand finish that would reflect the car headlights. It's probably from the mid 20's, I think it's worth around 400$?

Its sand and glass paint for pontiac and oakland, but he said its not reflective? He said he paid 700 for it 5 years ago. Might be doing a trade tomorrow.

That's cool. It's old as well. You would be hard pressed to find another one in any condition. If you like it, get it. It will never go down in value.

Keep up posted!!!
