I received these gas globe covers from a family member. I don't really know much about them and Google wasn't particularly helpful. They were packed in a wood box. They look old, smell old, but I know reproductions have been around a long time too. So I guess I'm hoping someone can confirm if they are original or not and approximately how old they are. Any help or further information would be much appricated! 20230729_155843 by Jason B, on Flickr

They are original. Made by the Naph-Sol company on the label. The Zephyr lenses were used in the late 1930’s. The Blu Flame was a brand of fuel oil sold by the same company but those lenses were used a little later in the ‘50’s. They are both desirable sets though not extremely rare. The generic Fuel Oil ones are probably from the same era but are not worth nearly as much as the other two sets. Was there just three sets of two or were there more in the box? Nice find.

Need to keep the box, also. I am interested as I am from Michigan. Let me know a price. Thank for saving the history!

Hi, Jason. I sent you a Private Message. Just click on the flashing white envelope toward the top of the page on the right side.
AND, FOR OTHER OLD GAS MEMBERS INFO: my private message to the original poster was informational in nature, and NOT an offer to purchase these lenses or the box. John

They are original. Made by the Naph-Sol company on the label. Wouldn't Naph-Sol Co. likely be the jobber that sent the lenses to a station/customer? I see the box is from Libbey Glass Co. in Toledo and then I also see what looks to be stenciled lettering for CAPCO, Cincinnati Advertising Products Company...... I have no idea how the complete process worked to produce lenses, but did Libbey make "blank discs" for CAPCO to work on? Maybe Jim T-Way would have an answer? Darin

Naph-Sol was the refining company that marketed Zephyr & Alaska Oil was the jobber.

Thanks for all the great info! I'm definitely going to display at least some of these. Does anyone know of a rotating mount for the globe?

Does anyone know of a rotating mount for the globe? Several gas pump parts vendors sell non-rotating globe bases. Rotating are harder to find. Here's one on eBay: https://www.ebay.com/itm/254828278937
