I know zero about them. Don't even know how can tell them. I'm assuming there marked/stamped?
Do they interchange ? Or they pump specific? Reason I asked...
I have a cyclops pump. That is gutted and a computer popped up. No clue what I should look for to know if it will work on the shell of a pump I have or not. Thank you

If you are referring to a tall Martin Schwartz 80 as the "cyclops", the VR in the pics is newer than what was typically used in the 1940 and 50's. The VR in the photos has 4 digital wheels and the original ones had 3 probably because gas was much cheaper and you never needed to purchase over $9.99 : )

Another thing to look out for is the position of the pointed arrow indicators on the right side of the computer. Later model three digit computers are position a little upwards like the four digit in the picture. Also, many of them have the totalizers "split" at the top and in the middle. You want the totalizer to be one piece unit that is in the middle. You also do not want a totalizer to be on the side of the computer. The side totalizers were more often used on earlier built gas pumps. A cyclops age pump uses computers that the arrows are dead center in front - not at a slight angle pointing upwards. Hope this helps. Brady

Ralph, you just need a standard V-R, three dials not four. They are very interchangeable between pumps, should be easy to find. What you may be missing is the linkages between the pump reset handle and the meter. We are missing those somewhat frequently on MS80s, you can make something out of all-thread and a little welding pretty easily that will work if you are missing it. The faces you can buy repro.

We are low on those V-Rs but we had just a bunch of them sitting around at one time, lots of times a pump would be missing one, and we would just grab one from our pile and use it. Easy. Almost anything out of a 40s or 50s gas pump, Tokheim, whatever will most likely work. You can tell just by glancing at them.

And BTW, you dont need any of the mechanism or pump below that mounting plate on the V-R, IMO.

The computer rests on three brackets attached to the frame rails. Nothing too difficult. Paul www.severngaspumps.com

Yeah you can definitetly make something. If memory serves they are at different heights where they attach, so its a little bit of a pain.

another thing of note is that that's an automatic reset computer. These were used on late 50s on up pumps. The M&S 80 is late 40s or early 50s. Your pump will need a crank reset computer. You can tell the difference very easily. The automatic resets have a large shock absorber on the side that looks just like a car or motorcycle shock. You can see it on the left of the photo posted here.
