Hi,

Does anyone have a photo they can share of how the ad glass mounts on a Neptune, Erie or Smithway L1 pump?

I have the rubber seal for the window but need to make the retainer for the add glass and I don’t know what they look like or the size of the ad glass.

Thanks for the help!
John

Scott,

Thanks for posting the picture for John. Wish more old gaser would do that. I would think the members of this site would have access to most pumps.

I've owned a few Smithway L-1 pumps, they have a unique way of displaying ad glass. They slide down in the groove of the factory inner window trim. Many of the L-1 pumps are missing this trim and I would think it would be difficult to replicate. I googled PICS OF SMITHWAY L-1 GAS PUMP and there are a few pics but not too detailed.Sorry I don't have any pics. Brady

Apologies as I had stopped checking in. Yah the L-1 is a specific mount and I can't seem to find any clear images. I was hoping someone would share photos of one that they have but no one has. Every person I've tried to contact that has one does not respond. I appreciate your efforts above. I'll keep looking.

If anyone has complete L-1 please share an image of the door interior so I can see how the add glass is held.. I can make what I need based on an image. Thank you.

Cheers,
John

I'm suppose to go with a friend to pick up one in early Jan. I'll take pics and I can text them to you then if you wish. Brady

here"s my L-1, this is all original. ad glass goes at the bottom of the face plate, they have side trim pieces that works as trim for the face plate and also forces the light from the bulb downward to a bottom reflective piece that lights the ad glass. the glass sits between that trim piece and the channel rubber.

These are great thank you so much.
Just to clarify as it is difficult to tell in images. If I understand it correctly, the ad glass would go in the groove made by the two side pieces or it could have been a decal on the main glass for the bottom. Is that correct? The images to me appear to be a decal for the bottom ad as the groove is not used. Can you let me know if I am interpreting it correctly?

Thank you again for you assistance.
John

Derailer, apologies but one more detail.

How does the upper ad glass install? What size ad is installed on yours?

I completed making the lower section and sides but can’t tell how the upper works. Is the ad painted on the glass at the top as well? I have about 2 3/4” from the edge of rubber seal down to work with before the computer begins. From the back image you shared there is a metal part with center cut out to illuminate an ad. Just not sure of size and how it is retained.

Thanks again, your help has been much appreciated and got me pretty far in rebuilding this one.

Cheers,
John
