I bought the pump and someone had sprayed white all over the green stripes. I took a digital caliper and measured the width of the stripes. The bottom three are slightly wider then the top three was that they way to t should be? Should they all be the same width or does it really matter? I plan on restoring it and get the stripes correct. An ideas?

In my opinion, Make them close and move on. These were painted in the Fifties....usually as a factory option to the purchasing company. Don't think anyone had anything like a "digital" measuring devise at that time. The differences you mentioned was caused by "human" error. Paul www.severngaspumps.com
