Does anyone know off-hand what hardware is required to attach the skins? Some of the holes around the base seem to be 5/16, but a few are larger, should they be square, hex, or slotted round head? The hardware that connects the sides of the skins together is smaller, maybe 1/4-20, I assume they should be slotted round head screws? This pump came already disassembled with no hardware so I don't have anything to go by. Thanks in advance.

On the 176,
The larger red holes are only clearance for the heads of the fasteners that hold the bracket to the base.
The three green holes are tapped and use a bolt
The rest, blue, use through bolts with nuts on the inside.

You already have the sizes. I use stainless steel hex headed bolts for all. Use a nylon washer between the head and the paint for protection. Align the heads in the same pattern, ie. uniform look...pointed up at corner or flat to the horizon. Looks much better than just random. Paul www.severngaspumps.com

Thanks for the info. I have the cast iron base, so it's a little different and doesn't have the large rivets so I suppose the large holes are left empty. I just want to use the correct type of hardware. I wasn't sure if something this old would have square bolts rather than hex bolts.

The 1/4-20x3/4 Slotted round head screws were perfect for the sides. The 5/16 bolts were too small for the top (which I discovered are threaded), they must be 3/8. Getting the skins on was a job, I'd hate to try with a freshly painted set. Here's today's progress. It's standing on it's own for the first time in many years.
