I've had this sign for about 5 or so years. Finally got around to cleaning it up. Pretty happy how it came out. Up close there is quite a bit of damage to the porcelain finish but I guess nothing that can be done about that.
I first used Barkeepers with 000 steel wool and lots of elbow grease. Especially to get the paint off the perimeter where someone must have painted the frame at one time and got all over the sign.
Then a mild rubbing compound and then a polishing compound and finished with a coat of wax. This took off quite a bit of the oxidation.
