Here are a few pics of a decent looking Gulflube sign. I normally see themmaked AM or AAW or even Robertson. This one looks to be unmarked. Any ideas if it is legit and value? There is no marking under the price sticker in the lower right f the sign.

Thanks

...it's not a reproduction...

Looking for better Gulf items: signs, globes, cans and paper - especially porcelain Gulf flanges, and Gulf A-38 & A-62 ad glass...

Okay thanks. Always weird when you see one that is not marked and everyone I have seen is either A. Morrison or AAW signed. Also there are some slight variations like the gulf orange around the border. I have heard though that there are as many as 4 variants of this sign.

That is a shame......as a collector of paper/ephemera items, nothing peeves me off more than folks using ink pens to price old maps, etc. The same holds true for almost any item, you don't write your prices on the tags when they're already attached to the item, do it before hand so they're isn't any chance of an ink bleed issue.

I am in my 25th year in the office supply business. I can tell you the bleed through from the Marks A Lot marker on that sign isn't coming off, unfortunately.......

A more realistic shipping charge would actually help the individuals auction on this sign

Hi, Jamie. I'm not quarreling with you, But, perhaps the seller is figuring in that he will be building a crate, as part of the $75 shipping cost shown. Some materials, and a fair amount of time involved. Again, not defending this guy's shipping cost. Just giving my take, having built some sign shipping packages in the past. John

I hope you are correct my friend. For that price I would expect nothing but the best. Unfortunately in my experience, that has not been the case. Still in the lower percentile receiving items properly packaged. In fact just the other day I received a 24 x 18 tin sign wrapped in cardboard that was 28 x 22. I was shocked it never got bent in shipping. There was a guy on eBay couple weeks ago charging $50 to ship pump plates. But I guess that’s a topic for another day. I just feel when the shipping costs are so knowingly high for said item, it hurts the auction.
