Here are 3 signs that are in a consignment auction in Halstad, Minnesota on the 28th of October. I didn't have the sizes until a few moments ago and I am posting them here for your own scrutiny and discussion. The Texaco is a 36 inch sign and the other two are both 24 inch. I sent these pictures out to several members over the weekend and its pretty much unanimous that these are reproductions/fakes. The auction company is pretty open about them, in that he has "no idea" as to the authenticity, and leaves that up to the buyer. What opinion do you have and why?

UPDATE!--all are double sided!

This is becoming a real problem when auction houses don't give a rip and take that position. I could not determine if these were fakes, but I do know they are making many new ones so I would stay away from them based on that.

...can't tell for sure from the photos on the other two, but I'm positive that Texaco is as fake as the day is long...

...wonder if the auctioneer will be as 'open' during the sale, when the pieces hit the block...

Looking for better Gulf items: signs, globes, cans and paper - especially porcelain Gulf flanges, and Gulf A-38 & A-62 ad glass...

Socony has a lot of discrepancies against known real ones. Not real, in my opinion. Not to mention it's same exact 'font' as the Fake 24" flange made in India.

I notified the auctioneer on Friday before the sale on Saturday, and he thanked me for the info but I have not heard how he handled it on sale day?
