I am considering going after this sign, but, wanted a value of what I could resell this at within one year or less (at a show like Peotone, IL) to just break even if I were to get into financial trouble. Please, please give me your best conservative opinions of value. Thank you.
P.S.: Can anyone post what the back of one of these mega signs looks like? I have no idea how the mounting points look.
P.S.S: What does one of these weigh?

Well...it's on ebay right now. If you're the high bidder and "win" it, that means that you will have paid more than everyone else that was bidding and/or watching it...the same guys that attend the gas shows. I would think that therein lies your answer.

Plenty of things on eBay bid way over current market value, and then can't be sold at a break even point for years, or decades! Your comment doesn't help one bit. I asked for specific help, not a self serving monologue.

I have seen people ask anywhere between 4-7k. Most probably sell for 3-5k depending on condition. This would be probably $3800-$4000? Great sign!
Looking for any cans! PM me what ya got!

Self serving monologue, huh? Don't you have a penchant for the dramatic. My point was (and is) that you're about to see what it's worth. How do you think prices are established in an extremely limited market? Auction prices are a major part of the calculation. You say things are bid "way over current market" at times...how do you think a 1k sign becomes a 10k sign? Somewhere along the way someone bid "way too much" right? The inverse is true as well. If the bubble pops, down go the prices.
Oops...that may have been another self-serving monologue. The joys of a public forum I guess.

About a week ago, a sign in similar condition to this one was posted on Craigslist at $3,500. It was gone in less than a day.

a staple sign in the hobby, but also one that is very common. i agree with all of the above. plenty of completed auction results out there to search on google & ebay.
do some research and pay what you are comfortable with. do you really want to make a multi-thousand dollar decision based on what a couple guys tell you on a message forum?
and when you see sold results, always assume you will get less. a lot of the sold results are from resellers or auctions that spend thousands on networking and advertising in order to achieve the highest prices possible. the problem in this hobby a lot of the time, is that sellers expect to realize those prices without putting in the same work.
good luck.

petropumps and BryceG are experienced and know what they are talking about. Their logic is tried and true.

1 piece of plywood with 2x4'screwed on end around the perimeter, take sign apart & place it in crate, screw 2nd sheet of plywood on top. Fits perfectly inside...... and it's not cheap to ship. I sold one in a 6 condition for $3500, but that was 12yrs ago. Chris

Im not saying its not possible. Im saying when the buyer says free local pickup, you have to some how talk them into doing this. Usually talking some stranger into doing something like that requires money. That has to be added onto the final price. If your buying a sought after sign off ebay, planning on flipping it in a year, and getting a large sign halfway across the country ,Good Luck.

It had a buy-it-now price of $4,995 but that disappeared right after the first bid at $2,600 was entered. Sounds like the size, weight, and flexibility of this is more than I want to get into. I'd be just as happy with a smaller Pegasus. Great advice in here, thanks to EVERYONE!
