I am trying to put new face glass in my M&S 19-A pump and for the life of me can't figure out how to get the reset knob off. The hole in the glass, which is new old stock, accepts the reset shat but will not go over the knob. Attached are photos of the pump and the reset knob.

If someone would be kind enough to provide me with some help it would be greatly appreciated.

If I had to guess there could be 3 things!
1)threaded on(left handed thread-maybe counter clockwise))
2)check for allen keys-I can see a small hole
3)may also contain a expansion pin which would have to be pushed out?

Take your time keep in mind it was put on many years ago! lol

Good luck!

Thanks for the comments Joe,

I have been unable to locate and allen keys or expansion pins.
Tried heating the shaft and turning both clock wise and counter clockwise. I'm reluctant to force anything as I might break it.

The hands have small set screws but they wont pass on the shaft.

Hopefully someone has taken one of these apart previously

Heating the shaft is not the correct thing to do. I would carefully heat the knob. You want the shaft to stay cold (stay small) and the knob warm (expand). I would be very careful, it should not take much heat to warm them up. It is possible to damage the knob with too much heat.

I would also soak it with PB blaster.

I agree that the knob is threaded on, hard to say if it is RH or LH threads.

Is it possible that the knob was pressed on the shaft?

The hole just behind the knob looks to be for a roll pin. Maybe someone already removed it. Or maybe only part of it is still in there. Heat the knob up and spray something into that hole. While everything is still warm tap on the back of the knob to see if will come off. May tale awhile.

I'm going to try heating the knob next to see if its a press fit. Tho hole in the shaft next to the knob must have some purpose but there is no pin in it and it is the same diameter for the thickness of the shaft.

I thank everyone for the comments, would welcome anymore suggestions and when I figure it out I'll post for everyone to see.

Scott, I couldn't agree more. I was just checking the wiring job I did and should have removed it before taking the picture :0).

The hole in the shaft is for a pin insert to hold the shaft in one place while you turn the knob. This makes sure you don't damage the gears when you take the knob off. I don't know if it is right or left threaded. Richard

Hi,
I am building my MS 19A and need to know what the mounting of the clock mechanism looks like. I may have some missing parts. Can you post some pictures of the clock mechanism and how it mounts?
Thanks
