Has anyone ever seen the one piece "Visible Gasoline Globe" that is etched without ever being painted red in the letters? I just purchased this on the other day. I am sure it is not a fake, but nowhere can I find a drop of red paint on the letters. So I was wondering did some of these come without the paint form the disturber or did they all come without the painted letters, and it was up to the gas station owner to paint the letters if they wanted to do so.
Thanks to everyone in advance

They were always painted. This globe, from the 1910s/20s spent many decades outside and the paint just wore off. I collect one piece etched globes and it's amazing how many don't have a speck of paint on them. Doesn't hurt value to repaint at all. Unlike fired globes nothing would hold the paint on the globe so is wore off easily. Scott B.
