Last summer I found this neat Schrader tire guage at a local antique store. I just did some on-line research about the Savage Tire Company of San Diego and found the history interesting. The company was the first tire manufacturer west of Chicago when Arthur Savage started it in 1901. He had already started the Savage Arms Company in New York. His patented detachable box magazine is still used in almost all modern military firearms. But perhaps his best and most lasting invention may be radial tires. Who knew?
