Now that the best franchise in Hockey history is out, the Wings of course, I always then go with my second favorite. GO HAWKS!!
P.S. and before you start showing me all the reasons why the Wings are not the best franchise in history, I have one word for you.
Is that sign an Argentina made one.
Is that sign an Argentina made one.
NO WAY!!!!!!!
In Detroit, we do it right!!!! We outsource to Mexico.
Man........ I'm sure glad I don't care.

That's COLD! pizza... Sad, but "TRUE"
Wishing Good luck to our BlackHawks tonight.

This was absolutely spectacular before their home opener Saturday night.

Yes sir you guys in Chi town have all those good ole Canadian boys !!!! Good luck hawks
The last "chicken hawk" game I was at was back in the old Arena, I think they call it "the brawl". Not for the fights on the ice but in the stands. They stopped the game and the players are watching the fights in the stands. The video they have is from the other end of the ice so you can not see me... well good enough to pick me out of the police line up! they cleared out a couple sections of the yellow seat if you remember the old barn.
So how it started? well seems our friends to the north can not hold their beer, plus they brought a dummy along, really a stuffed full sized scarecrow? So anyway I had a few words with them and said something like you better be quiet or your dummy might catch his arse on fire! I did not set the dummy on fire but it was on fire seconds after saying something. Well the biggest one is standing a step below me and I have to look up at him. He asks if I want to go? I told him "My momma said I should not start fights" but she never said I can't end them. So I told the guy give it your best shot, I'm a counter puncher! and you better have insurance, your gonna need it. He laughs a goes to slug me when a left paw from another Blues fan sends this guy flying down the stairs backwards. So I look at my fellow Blues fan and said "I wanted to do that..." he says sorry too late grab another one..
Well all hell is breaking loose but not a one has come to knock me off my step. then my buddy yells "cops" I turn to look behind me thinking they are coming down the steps. No there is one in our aisle next section with his billy club heading for me! I waved bye bye, took off and they never found us!
About 2 or 3 years later I was having lunch with some of my ham radio buddies, they were telling about Jim Welby he is a big hockey fan, and a police officer. So when Jim gets there they get my attention, I turn around here is Officer Welby... All I could say "I didn't get a punch in but I sure was in the middle of it!" He laughs "your the fastest white guy I ever seen, where in the hell did you go?"
Well I haven't been to another "chicken hawk" game! So I've mellow a wee bit.
Any Calgary fans? that's another long story!
A well deserved award today, for one of the nicest & most skilled men out there.
http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/hockey/blackhawks/ct-pat-foley-Can't imagine listening to a Hawks game w/o him.
Well as a transplanted Calgarian I am a poor Flames fan. That's because I was a Winnipeg Jets fan first and former season ticket holder in the WHA and V 1.0 NHL Jets. Then onto Calgary and 3 Stanley Cups later I was an Oilers fan. All the while the Flames were the team to hate. Tough to get that feeling out of the blood. AND the Jets are baaaack!
But I have a fondness for the Hawks. They have the best uniform and logo in professional sports. And heck they could be a Jets farm team (just kidding) as there a few Peggers on the team. JT is a great player and person. Chicago also has a great arena and the opening ceremonies and anthem are not to be missed.
One of my favorite memories of the Hawks was watching Denis Savard stick handling through all five Oilers and scoring a spectacular goal
http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=c-grpzqqbqENow Patrick Kane is following his foot/skate steps. I hope to see more Hawk games in person and on TV.
Bye bye Minnesota...next.
Does that mean they are still playing hockey somewhere.
6 teams still are..
Go Wings!!! Oh, wait.. Sorry!
Love the old thread. Great team are the Hawks. Hopefully they don't get too lazy watching Calgary and Anaheim duke it out.
Interesting turn of events out east. Should be a fun run to Lord Stanley's cup.
OK tough series to call. Two skilled big teams but Chicago has the edge in speed and experience on the big stage. Anaheim has a better goaltender I believe. Chicago in 7 games. Should make for a good series regardless.
gotta love Perry and Getzlaf , gotta love Toews and Kane too should be a great series
116 minutes including 3 Overtimes for a WAHOO!
Some good hockey and a great result-so far
This should go the full 7.
What a nailbiter..
Hawks up 3-1,then the Ducks score 3 goals in 37 seconds...37 seconds!
Took two overtimes for the final score for a 5-4 Blackhawks win.
These 2 teams deserve to be right where they are.
A very entertaining series so far....more to come I'm sure
Missed the game! Saw the highlights in what was a remarkable game. I will certainly catch the next one. Excellent series, too bad one team goes golfing.
Alright!......Anaheim here we come.
How cool to see the remaining teams in same situation.
Game 7 for everybody.
Rangers loose game 7 at home maybe Anaheim will be a good stop for Chicago!
WAAAAAAAAHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

Excellent result and my man Toews excelled. Should be another great series.
Bye bye Ducks, and take your westcoast 8:20 start times with you...LOL.
LOL ya that's for sure tough getting to work after them lol
It starts tonight...............Ground The Lightning!
It was quite an exciting game! Especially the last 2 minutes when Tampa was down by one! What a mad dash to try and find that needed goal! Wow!
As a Ranger's Fan...ok, I will just shut-up.....Go Hawks
GAME #4
Blackhawks 2
Tampa 1
Series now tied at 2 to 2
What a game! Hope you saw it!
Tough to find a spot showing the game way down here in the SW but manage we did. Great game and close, too close, for my Chicago sensibilities.
See it?...I'm just getting home from it.
Oh what a night.
GAME #5
Blackhawks 2
Tampa 1
The series now has the Blackhawks as the leader!
The next game should prove to be VERY exciting!
Everyone here is ecstatic..and Lord Stanleys cup will be in the house, just in case.
Everyone here is ecstatic..and Lord Stanleys cup will be in the house, just in case.
So you're betting on a six game series then! LOL
We aren't.
But I guess Lord Stanley is.
The United Center should be loud and proud tomorrow. The Black Hawk fans are special and the national anthem shouldn't be missed if you're watching!
Good luck to Jonathon and the boys .
Here's to hoping for something that hasn't been done here @ home in 77 years tonight.
That would be very cool for you guys . Going out on a limb but I think hockey is a little more appreciated in Chicago , then it is in Tampa Bay . Go Hawks.
If you're not watching the game, you should be! A real nail biter with no score in the first period, but the Blackhawks came thru with one in the second period! The score is mow 1 to 0 in favor of Chicago and we're waiting for the exciting 3rd period to begin! Go Blackhawks!
Now Chicago 2
Tampa 0
with less than 5 minutes to go!
WOW! What a game!
CHICAGO BLACKHAWKS WIN THE STANLEY CUP!!!!
77 Years!...this town is on fire.
Yes it is despite the downpour and flash flooding. The cup had to swim to the arena! Congratulations Chicago. Now its time to move over for the Jets, eh
HAWKS!... watched more playoff hockey this year than I have in the past. Seems like every series was competitive.
After golf last night we went into the clubhouse to hang out for awhile. The game was on. I have watched a little of it, when I have time. Anyway, it was in the second period, score 0-0. There was a huge flurry of shots on goal in about a 3 minute period. I bet it was an exciting game to watch.
When Patrick Kane scored the 2nd goal to make it 2-0 in the final minutes of the game, this entire area went ballistic...fireworks went off,car alarms sounded, people screamed from their roof tops, and air horns screamed as dogs barked.
All I could think of,was how much Dick Bennett would've enjoyed this and a nice hot slice of Deep dish.
Congrats to the hawks and Fans well done
Celebration parade to take place here this week.
Congrats to
Chicago Blackhawks!
Rick is gona rub it in for months to come ...
Can not wait for "
Ducks" to take it back & also bring back the 8:20 PM
Hen
Ha!...you know it.
Now, if Chicago could only get a football team!
Coach Q's house here down the street last night..The crowd was 10X bigger then 2013 & even 2010.
I was only able to drape his porch in extra strength two ply this year.
Second photo from 2013..
Is that enough TP to soak up the rain or Tampa's tears from last night?
That is weird to me that the fans TP'd the coaches house.
For us it's a baptismal right of acceptance to the tee pee ee.
We've been doing it to other winning Chicago sports figures homes for decades.
I know it's done in other parts of the country too,at least I've heard about it.
We are also the same ones who come back days later to clean it all up.
Coach Q loves it!
Cool, never heard of it being done around here. I guess that might be because all of the MN sports teams dont win...LOL
Kudos to you guys for cleaning it up afterwards!
So close Korea Times....so close.
