Isn't this the guy that this forum seems to think sells only fakes??

Would you say this Sunoco sign is fake?
Posted By: jwood7 Re: Littleshanno Sunoco - Fri Mar 08 2013 12:38 AM
He sells fake and touched up stuff a lot. He has some negative feedback that shows some of his disgruntled buyers too. He has had some cool stuff before in the past but I just stay away from his stuff all together because I do not feel that I can trust his stuff.

I can't touch it and pics are not magnified to well, but it looks real to me. Just sayin' but I could be wrong. I would stay away if you're not even 99% sure.

I have heard some bad stories on this seller so if it was me I would steer clear!!

No one ever said he only sells fakes. He "IS" the person that sells the fake T53 Pegasus, and has sold a LOT of them. Quite often he has some really nice original pieces, but I never bid on any of his stuff for the simple reason that he does sell fake signs to an unexpecting public with absolutely no remorse!
I saw him at Peotone and he bought quite a few things at the auction sale and during the swap meet. He attends Columbia and Peotone both that I know of, and seems to know quite a few people. He seems to be really into this hobby but from his actions on ebay, I'd never trust him, and if you don't have trust in this hobby, you don't have anything!
As far as the Sunoco sign, it looks real to me.

Yah I probably over stated that. I remember know that it was all about the t-53's.

Kevin you are absolutely on it with the call on the ethics.

Thanks all for the imput!!

Guys As I have said before Littleshanno is a woman named Shannon. I purchased a rare Deep Rock sign from her recently and have gotten a hard to find Pure Oil sign a year or so back. She sells both repops and originals and the service has been great.

Now wether their is a husband or boyfriend that buys, I have always gotten notes from her with the purchases.

I dislike the T-53 signs just as much as the rest of you but she doe's have some good stuff at times and that Sunoco sign is not a repop.

The old used car lingo applys here ...there's a sucker born every day but it's the smart ones who know what to buy and when.

Just because a thief takes a day off to work honestly once in a while doesn't make them less of a thief. Certainly they shouldn't be praised for being honest "sometimes"

I agree with Kevin & Neil. I wouldn't support a crook by buying items from them. Simply put, I hate liars and thieves!
Posted By: tomzcollectiblez Re: Littleshanno Sunoco - Fri Mar 08 2013 12:11 PM
I agree with Kevin 100%
Shannon is the little disabled lady that follows him around.
They are simply out for the greed of things. They know the hobby and collectors. They know if they mix it up with original stuff then most people will still bid on their items!
There needs to be an absolute refusal to buy their items regardless OR it will only get worse.
The guy had HUGE wads of cash and bragged about how much he has made on ebay! Bad News!
PS: The sunoco sign looks 100% original!!! But BEWARE!!!!
Why would anyone support a known crook? All it does is give him more money to rip more people off???
Mike M, If you bought a car from him for your own child and it was a lemon you take it right back and move on wouldnt you???
OR WOULD YOU GO BUY ANOTHER OF HIS LEMMONS???
Posted By: KZ1000 Re: Littleshanno Sunoco - Fri Mar 08 2013 12:28 PM
It does appear that nobody has problems selling him stuff at peotone and other shows, maybe he should be blackballed and not dealt with at all.
Posted By: Signs&Neons Re: Littleshanno Sunoco - Fri Mar 08 2013 12:29 PM
Absolutely no way I'd think about buying from them. Kevin pegged it, and Neil, Tom, Dave have put the nails in the coffin so to speak. One bad apple does ruin the whole bunch for me.
Posted By: Cold Pizza Re: Littleshanno Sunoco - Fri Mar 08 2013 02:52 PM
Being from Illinois,I've crossed paths with her before.
She is her own worst enemy by selling both fake & real items, with no remorse or claiming ignorance.
Her water is muddy, and one I will never enter.
Posted By: Steven C. Re: Littleshanno Sunoco - Fri Mar 08 2013 04:30 PM
Nuf said for me. They have two decent Sunoco's posted. But I won't be bidding. I'll leave it to God to bring me another one some day if it was meant to be.

FWIW, I wrote asking for better pics of both. Still yet to hear from them.
Posted By: Mike M. Re: Littleshanno Sunoco - Fri Mar 08 2013 06:24 PM
Ok since I don't know shannon or her husband personally, I just want it to be known that I'm not agreeing with them selling unmarked repops along with originals and I see that they have stuff listed that they got in the peotone auctions.
I feel that you guys think I'm wrong for having bought originals from them. I buy through E-bay only when the price of an item is selling for a decent price and That is what I watch for on there.

I just want to ask this question and please be honest as I'm not on here to start anything as I know and have met many of you @ Iowa Gas or auctions and I consider anyone TRUELY in this hobby as a friend.

As I do in my collection, I have that one sign that I always have wanted and keep looking for a deal..... If littleshanno had that sign for sale thats you have always wanted or a Beacon / Harbor gas pump plate that was going for a good price can you honestly say, I'm not bidding on that because they also sell repops????

And again guys< I'm one of you and hate those T-53 and others so bad I'd like to turn them all in for trademark violations or beat them with a bat!!!

Somewhere in this hobby we have to have a Lawyer who must know somehow if we can turn in these unathorized signs.

Please answer honestly and let me know. Thanks

I will touch on this, seeing that no one else wants to. My collection is mine for a short time, as others have rightly pointed out previously; that we are only temporary caretakers/custodians of these material goods.

Reputations will stand the test of time and we will be remembered via that reputation. Sometimes, it not our actions that we are judged by, but rather the actions of those that we associate with. I for one wouldn't want to be seen in a public setting with her even if it was for a purchase. Others will judge you based on their perception of your actions, only you know your true intentions.

I wouldn't purchase anything from her, even if it was an item I had wanted for many years. The financial gain would not be worth the philosophical moral loss/price of doing business with her. My good reputation, integrity and karma are worth more then anything she could sell me.

We all know how she sells. Is she a better buyer? Who knows, what lies she has told, or who she has defrauded to buy the items she is selling. What kind of karma is attached to those items? I feel people like her are not worth the risk. I can see no good coming out of any association with the likes of her.

Talk is much cheaper then action. I can assure, in no uncertain terms...that I walk the walk on this. I have written off people in past based on my assessment of their character.

We all define and understand life through our own eyes and experience. Our sense of right and wrong is forged and tempered by our assessment and interpretation of that experience. One can clearly draw from this that your sense of right and wrong can be totally different then mine and neither one of us would be wrong.

Thanks Dave, you touched on some views that I never thought about. Kind of changed my views on where my pieces come from and who you deal with.
I have to admit that I paid more for a large Porcelain Ok sign a few years back because it came from the family dealership that had hung it up many years ago and they provided me with a written story of the business and sign which is now taped to the back for the caretaker!!

Enough talk ! I say we handle this the old fashion southern way. We'll drag her behind the pickup for a while through the pasture trying not too miss the "cow pies" and fire ant mounds while playing some Skynerd on the radio or...we could just don't do business with her any more and sleep well at night. There are "Little Shannos" in every hobby where a quick buck can be made. Communication is the key and you guys are "Mass Communicating" ! LOL Her days are numbered. Dave

CataulaDave I like your southern style. If you throw in a little Molly Hatchet I call shotgun.
Seems like another person on ebay to add to my list of not to buy
from . So far its a pretty good size list.

Dave ,well put Qoute .It's not our actions that we are judged by, but rather the actions of those that we associate with.

Good post Dave.Around here we have a saying..."you are known by the company you keep"... try to keep thought in mind.

Good post Dave.Around here we have a saying..."you are known by the company you keep"...I try to keep that thought in mind.I do think that people tend to surround themselves with others who have similar morals and values to find their own "comport zone"and then pretty much stay in that zone.I know I try to do that.

I could not and would not buy a sign from her even if it was something I really really wanted.
I guess like most of you my collection makes me happy and if I bought a sign from her every time I looked at the sign I would be reminded of all the people she has screwed over the years and it wouldn't make me happy.
I like to be proud of the things I have collected and I certainly couldn't be proud of that.
Posted By: K W FRITH Re: Littleshanno Sunoco - Sat Mar 09 2013 04:35 PM
Dave & Bob have pretty well echoed my sentiments on the subject! I "would not" buy the holy grail from them, even at bargain prices! I have only ever hit the "delete button" when a piece of his ends up in my watch file.
Some of you keep referring to "her" and it is a man & woman team and the man in the picture is obviously the one in charge and doing the buying and selling, with the woman running signs back and forth to the truck. I don't know his name yet but they are both guilty by association.
I hope he reads this thread and wakes up to the damage he's caused to himself and the hobby too.

It is a team,but don't be fooled.
She may play naive @ times, but she's a savvy as him.

I am pretty much with K.W. on this one. His name is Dennis Berline, and pretty much hits all the central Illinois, auctions. For many years he dealt mostly in General store items, and branched out into petroleum items about 5 or 6 years ago. I have not bought anything from him because he is usually way to high for me.A lot of the things he buys at auction, are authentic and he moves them right on out, along with the fake stuff.
Posted By: THERMOMAN Re: Littleshanno Sunoco - Mon Mar 11 2013 12:48 AM
Can anyone pm me a picture of them?
Posted By: Wes Maxwell Re: Littleshanno Sunoco - Mon Mar 11 2013 01:28 AM
I do not know them but looking at their ebay listings I see some stuff that was my brothers that he sold at Peotone. Finished auctions I see some things that I sold at Columbia Missouri. I probably would not recognize them if I passed them on the street. Did anyone actually every ask them at a show why they are cheating people out of their money by selling fake stuff? I wonder if people would actually call them on their actions to their face if they would change? One of the signs they got from me was a Texaco and they did make money on it. Two other two they lost money on. Overall they did come out ahead on the things they bought from me. It looks like they list items with no reserve and let the auctions run?
