I found this on craigslist. Here is a great opportunity to buy an original prefab gas station. I am willing to provide free help in the form of experience I have had in moving similar buildings.

These are Union Metal Manufacturing prefab buildings. Here is a link to this style in a Union Metal filling station catalog circa 1930.

The seller took some really good photos.

I agree, lol......this guy obviously isn't a realtor!
This is an individual person needing to get buildings move off of the property.

Must not want to sell it very bad, LOL
Actually I think a deal can be made because there is a short deadline for removal. If anyone is interested they should make an offer because they need to be moved soon.
What there saying is, they took terrible pictures & if you want to sell something you should take good pics of the item you are trying to sell

The picture of the bushes from next door are my favorite.
Looks like some cool buildings if a collector could make a deal and drag them home. The pictures sure don't show much. The one with a fence in the foreground is one of the worst "for sale" photos I've seen. Might get a better view on Google Maps Street View.

Very smart idea Jim. Much better view of a great old station.
Great pictures. If any one is interested I think I can get both for $5000. We really need to save this piece of history.
I have these buildings given to me if I can move them. Is there anyone out there that would like them? I live 12 hours away and it may not work out for me to get there in time to take down. If you are interested contact me and I will help make arrangements for you to get them. Two main problems is the need to be removed soon and then that means the weather in Ohio is the other problem. 785-477-0328
Long way from Portland Oregon, but that was our business of Hand deconstruction. These would be very easy to do and store in a container. In fact a ABF upack would hold both. Biggest draw back would be the Roof on the flat building if there was asbestos in it. Older hot tar roofs were notorious for that.
Just unbolt this and store.
Great news! Oldgas.com member, Ben Eckart of Kansas, is in the process of bringing this classic gas station home from Ohio.

This is GREAT news! I was hoping the buildings could be saved and glad to hear they are. It would have been a heck of a shame if they were demolished.

Kudos to Ben Eckart! I hope this building lives on for many more years to come.
Good to hear. I wanted them badly but just dont have space for them. Glad Ben got them!
Can anyone here tell me exactly what oil company used this building please ?
Wanted to give everyone an update on this. After negotiations I was able to secure ownership of these two buildings. Then with the help of Lee Hoover we spent the last week and a half in Delaware, Ohio dismantling them and hauling home. The lubritorium will be rebuilt at Lees place and station will be rebuilt at my place.

Gotta love a building called the Lubritorium😀
Congrats on saving some petroliana history! Please post photos after the station is erected.
Did you uncover anything hidden that had fallen in a crack?
were the roofing tiles salvageable? , take lots of pictures of
the re-erection of the station too post for us too see - cool .. ...
So good to see this. Good for you! Like Randy said dont forget to keep us posted.

did you or are you going too add power 110 (underground) before you pour the cement?
shouldn't your forms be on the other side of the pedestal's of the building?
don't know how much rain you get there but think of runoff..
awesome project- keep us posted with pictures as you go along - I'm jealous .. ...
That is exactly what I was thinking Randy.
Congrats on a safe trip back. Keep us posted with your progress. Thanks.
Floating slab for interior floor. If you place the weight of the walls and roof on it by extending it out, the settlement will happen at the edges causing the slab to bust up in the middle of the floor due to the edges settling and the center not. I purchased a building built that way and it stinks having cracks through center of my building slab from edge to edge in multiple directions. Probably three inches higher in the center of my building than the edges now after 20 years of settlement.

depends how you do this: - minimum of 4" quality concrete with rebar thruout - sawcut it too prevent cracks.
plan this out no matter what the extra cost is too do it right - put a sub panel
inside the building for power & for possible lighting on the outside .. ...
Thanks to my brothers Jim and Mike I got all the steel for the roof done this week.
Looking good! Thanks for the updates, I sure enjoy seeing history being saved.
Making progress on the Octagon station. With the help of my wife Jane I got the soffit tin installed. And with the help of my friend Dave I got the roof sheathing added.
You'll be ready to pump gas in no time! Seriously, you are making fantastic progress on saving a piece of petroliana history.
Got all the walls, windows and doors installed. Just need to prep the 600+ tin shingles
