I am the type of collector that likes to leave items original. The originality of items is the fun part of the hobby for me. About a year ago I had the chance to buy an item I have been after for a while. I was thrilled I was able to purchase the item I wanted for a price I could afford., but there was one catch. The item was in very poor condition and needed a new life. After debating for a while with a fellow collector I was convinced that this was a good project to take on. I was not sure if another one would ever come along that I could afford. The wheel was full of heavy paint and varnish and almost looked like I was not going to be able to save it. After several hours and numerous types of paint stripped I was finally able to get it clean. Now came the fun part. Tons of sanding to get all the wood spokes even. I am almost complete with this project and will post the progress on this thread. This wheel really needed a new life and I am happy to save it and keep it in my collection.

Looks like it is coming along nicely, but I can see it was a lot of work. It will really pop when each spoke gets painted the array of sample colors.

The wheel looks to be in grate shape. Looking forward to seeing the end result.

Are you going to follow the color chart for the spoke colors? And how close can you come to the actual original colors, that may be a real challenge.

I have tried to come close with the colors. It was hard to get an exact match paint. No store would mix a small quantity for me so I had to use what was on the shelf. It looks great so far.
