I looked at this sign at least six or seven years ago at the Turkey Run in Daytona FL. I thought of buying it then but did not. I know it is a fantasy or repop, but I liked it. After I left the show I thought of sending a friend over to buy it for me, but I didn't.

Well it was meant to be.

I stopped in to visit a dealer, friend the other day. He showed me around and we went into one of his buildings to talk and hang for awhile. He started up a fire in the stove to take the chill off and I noticed the sign on the wall.

The sign popped back into my memories from years ago when I had met this dealer at the Turkey Run. I am glad to say that he has been a good friend for many years now.

Well we worked out a deal on the sign and it will be hanging in my house soon as a reminder of the many good experiences I have had with this friend over the years.

Thanks Mr. Mike !

I love it!

When somebody post on here asking the value of something...this is a perfect example!

This sign might not be worth 20.00(I just picked a number) to one guy but to you it means alot. And I really like that!

So value to me is alot of .... do you want it!

glad you got it!

Great story. Cool sign.
Is it a repro or foreign ?

Maybe it's a Foreign repro? wink

I like it simply because it's the Michelin Man and bicycle tires making it more interesting. I can see the convex "bulge" it has common to European signs.

I feel that it is a fantasy foreign sign. Looks like the ones made in Germany. Has no grommets, convex bulge, and the porcelain flows into the mounting holes.
Over the years I have not seen another one of this specific sign but have seen many other similar type signs.

Same sign is in Michelin book but is tin not porcelain. Rather than fantasy I would say repop done in porcelain.

Dear Oldgas friends,

This nice enamel Michelin sign is a moder repro based on a tin painted sign that existed in France in c.1915.

You can find this repro in different european web-sites for sale for a low prize.

I saw that some non-honest person are selling sometimes on ebay this porcelain sign with old patina and scratches, trying to sell it as old original. Be carefully about it.

Best wishes from mediterranean Barcelona.
