Nubbers123 it looks like you consigned some of your signs to Morphy's.
Posted By: Nubbers123 Re: Morphys April 22-23 Auction - Fri Mar 24 2017 12:40 AM
no signs, but have several quality pp. rated 9 or better on most
Posted By: signgod2112 Re: Morphys April 22-23 Auction - Fri Mar 24 2017 01:06 AM
So your saying a ppp is not a sign?
Posted By: Tankar Re: Morphys April 22-23 Auction - Fri Mar 24 2017 07:48 PM
I thought a PPP was a sign. 😆
Posted By: Nubbers123 Re: Morphys April 22-23 Auction - Sat Mar 25 2017 09:33 PM
You could call them a sign I guess, I think of them being a separate class
Posted By: Mattgas Re: Morphys April 22-23 Auction - Wed Apr 12 2017 10:28 PM
PPP is something I made up, it means porcelain pump.

Lots of great stuff in this auction.

Reproduction display pumps, in this auction ??
Posted By: Mattgas Re: Morphys April 22-23 Auction - Thu Apr 13 2017 09:02 AM
Yes there is three of them. This auction is 90% one seller and he had them in his collection. I talked to the man who made the repop pumps, he told me he made 16 of the Tokheims and 6 G&Bs.
Posted By: Craig Osbeck Re: Morphys April 22-23 Auction - Thu Apr 13 2017 11:11 PM
Some of them in the Mecum auctions were not stated as such and were passed on as originals. Yes they are stated as repops here, but then why are they not selling repop signs in the auctions and now selling repop pumps ? Is this a slippery slope ?
Posted By: Done4 Re: Morphys April 22-23 Auction - Fri Apr 14 2017 03:00 PM
They have had re-pop signs and globes in previous auctions.

If anyone has any questions concerning any of the Cities Service signage in this auction, feel free to contact me. Most of the consigners Cities Service signs came from my collection and my memory of these signs is still very fresh!

Man really feel bad for who ever had the some of those pumps. Repro displays not so bad, but starkey and Twin clearvision for $12,000 each ! Oh man, pumps are not the way it seems if there is to be shipping.

What about the Tok 34 display for $2750?!?!! Kicking myself for not grabbing that.

All you have to do is go to proxibid, all the info is there.
Posted By: Craig Osbeck Re: Morphys April 22-23 Auction - Sat Apr 22 2017 09:46 PM
The 34 display was an ad on.

Restored pumps... Can't sell em hardly at a collector sale. Better off sending them to a car auction. Had they been unrestored originals they would have brought double on average I bet
Posted By: Craig Osbeck Re: Morphys April 22-23 Auction - Sun Apr 23 2017 12:09 AM
True it seems though some of the clock face were still in the hunt. Just can't get over some of the prices on them though. Possibly the old saying, a restored pump in someone's like brand does nothing for others. It just becomes a good core pump.
Posted By: petropumps Re: Morphys April 22-23 Auction - Sun Apr 23 2017 03:01 AM
Yeah, they said it was an add on but it was original. I owned that pump a while back. You can always tell the true displays...they had four steps on the base. Plus no one has ever repop'd the trim below and above the display portion on that style 34 display. 100% legit and someone got a screaming deal.

There were many deals today there. There is just too much stuff coming to market, and I do not care what anyone thinks. Pumps are very hard to move or ship 2000 miles away unless you go. $12,000 for a restored Starkey ? The Harbor sign at 37K and in great shape? Lots of the same stuff the last few years, different pieces just same items. I think that this will come back to bite the auction companies also. I know I add the commission before I bid to see where it is actually at.

-Thank you! this is what I had said in a thread on here several months ago and everyone said I was crazy!

From what I can observe way too many big dollar pieces coming out in too short of a time, In the last 24 months Kyle Moore, Mike Wurley, Vern Walker and so many others. Even the most deep pocketed need time to breath and refill their discretionary accounts. If the collections keep coming out you will see prices continue to be depressed. It's the same in the car hobby. I've ridden cars up and down so long it feels like a roller coaster.

the only one making a killing is the auction companies

That is sooo true.
