Good Afternoon Everyone:
I came across this sign last week and wanted to know its worth. I believe it is a 30 inch sign and in good condition. I have attached an image, hopefully it will work.
Marvin
You "came across" the sign.
So was it free???
Why is it nobody wants to say what they paid for stuff but then after the fact they
want to know what its worth...
First off where you got it and what you paid may help determine if its even an original sign,
which looks questionable to me...
So I can't help with pricing but maybe someone else will step up, give a big number and make you feel better.
Minuteman:
I'm not sure why you are being such a jerk. I did not buy the sign as you assumed. I simply saw it last week, something I had not seen before and was wondering if it was fake or had value to it. This is what this forum is for correct? It must be terrible for you to be so bitter and hateful to someone you do not even know. Keep your ***** comments to yourself.
Minuteman,I usually don't comment on here, but here it goes. When I ask for help valuating an item it is because I purchased these items 40 or 50 years ago.I try checking E-bay and auction results before I ask in here.It has come time to think about selling my collection and definitely not selling any where near what I paid 40 years ago.
It's a high dollar sign if real. From the picture, it looks phony to me.
Your right, I was wrong to assume you bought it and will not comment on the value form anymore
If its original "?" or not, would be a BIG factor! One nicer than this, sold for $11K at the Miller sale this spring. Should be a good indicator? Its a tough world out there and that means that these higher dollar signs get reproduced by every crook that doesn't give a darn about anything but themselves!
Dang guys, come on. We all love this stuff and none of us knows everything. Let’s be cordial to one another and help each other out.
In regards to the sign in question...I have no clue.
Here is the one that sold a Mecum. The colors are OFF on the one you have. Take a look at the "I" in OILS. Top of the I is sloppy. The whole bit looks sloppy as well as the fired porcelain is not consistant. I don't have it my hand, but I doubt very seriously that you have an original sign.

Everybody:
Thank you for your input. Looking closer, I also noticed on the photo of the sign that I sent that the red circle is sloppy at the bottom left and the graphics on the car are also sloppy. I'm glad I did not purchase this sign when I saw it and again, thank you for your valued expertise.
That exact sign sold on ebay 2 weeks ago for 100.00.......
Also the mecum sign does not say Best For The North, could be 2 versions? Just doesn't look right to me, then I'm no expert.
