Trying to determine weight of a Bowser 585. I have one of Jacks books (kindle-E) but seems to only show pump and years made. any help is appreciated. Yes, I know they're HEAVY. thanks
Of course, a lot depends on how complete it is. I am guessing based on memory of how heavy components were when I restored mine, but I think well over 200 pounds.
Jeff thx, I was thinking more. the actual pumps weigh a bunch. Jack sim use to answer these questions but no more. thx
You may well be right. I'm not sure why you are interested in the weight, but I am 71 years young and it has been less than 10 years since I acquired both the pumps that I used in my restoration. I picked up both pumps out of town and loaded them onto a trailer by myself with no more that a 2-wheeler for assistance. I disassembled and then reassembled the pump myself and that included lifting the heaviest components into place and attaching them by myself. I am confident the weight is over 200 pounds, but doubt that I could have done what I did if the total weight was 350 or 400 pounds. If I had a way to safely weigh my completed pump, I would gladly do it, but don't want to destroy my restoration. Good luck with your quest.
thanks guys, may have to move one this week. 70 yr old also
Is the 585 the rollaway model or non hose retractable model? This makes a difference in the weight. I have moved many of these around either way. They do not weigh anymore than 250 pounds IMO. The rollaway model is about 25 pounds heavier overall.
