Hello, I recently pulled an old BF Goodrich Silvertown tire out of a riverbank in Western Montana. I was just wondering how old it was.

Thanks for any and all help,
Michael

From the research I've done it seems that the serial number on the tire, 0309704044, could mean it was made in the 4th week of the 4th year....just don't know if it was 1964, 1974, 1984, etc, So again, any input is appreciated.

the tire size 600-16 was common on cars in the 1940s

aviojnd - Thanks for the reply. Some of the research I've done seems to imply that the earlier tires were designated "6.00" and later, they dropped the "." and went to a value of "600". Any idea on where I might be able to look up taht serial number or something?

aviojnd - You are correct. I found this on etsy and it seems like it's the same tire: https://www.etsy.com/il-en/listing/661645520/vintage-1940-bf-goodrich-silvertown-tire

Thanks for the help!
