I know everyone has a different opinion one this subject. I purchased a Wayne pump that is totally original inside. The motor actually still runs when you turn it on at the handle. Your opinions on leaving it complete vs. taking out the parts not needed to lighten it up. Interested in hearing opinions on the subject. thx

Don't ask , it always turns into a big argument . I suggest you search the site about the subject to hear everybody's opinion . Including mine.

^^^^what he said ^^^^

Haaaaaa that’s funny Peter and accurate.

That subject pops up with a new member every month, it seems. Just go to the top of the page and do a search in the google search box, which searches this site. You can also go to the first topic (FAQ) in the discussion topic list and look there.

But I can answer it quickly... everyone has their own preferences - just do what you want.

Welcome to Oldgas, don’t take the posts the wrong way. You’re new and you ask a question that is not a bad thing. All that needed to be said by others was how to search, period. There is a lot of good info here that will help in your decision. Sounds like you have a cool pump.

I see it this way. You have to decide the way you think about it.

1 - Are you into history and preservation. If so, then you'll keep complete and untouched.

Or

2 - Are you into the classic style and art. If so, then remove all the unnecessary stuff and give it fresh new paint.

It is only something you can decide. Everyone here already has their stance.

If it was mine I would gut it. But no argument from me .or disrespect to you or others but it isn't mine so I could care less either way.
Just know this the pump holds at least quart to half gallon of the old fuel.
