Ted Czerechowicz (TC) an avid O&G collector passed away today after a short illness with cancer. He was a collector of all things oil and gas but especially Canadian Companies and those with Canadian roots like Cities Service. He was very skilled with his hands; he restored pumps, lubesters and corvettes. A great guy who was willing to help those who asked-he like all the others who've passed on recently, will be missed.

Here's a picture and a story; he's the fellow on the right..

My condolences to Ted's family and friends. Ted would call me up every now and then just to talk gas and oil. He purchased a Shell globe(I think Matt has it now?) at a local auction that I attended and I picked it up and kept it for him until he was heading back from work to Ontario. I picked him up at the airport and we came back to my place for a few hours and he showed me pictures of this collection and the restoration of his Corvette, then I took him back to the airport to head home. We had a great visit. Ted was truly one of the good ones. Very sad news.
Ken.

Shocking news for me! I knew Ted very well but was not aware that he was having health problems!
We had an obvious connection with Cities Service items and of course, especially Cities globes. Ted has a collection of Cities globes that is just awesome! There are several very rare globes in his collection that I have never seen anywhere else. Ted also loved Cities Service signage and would pick up a piece now and then, but his real love was the globes.
A few years back when Ted decided to sell off a few of his excess globes to allow him to concentrate on Cities Service, I bought a couple of rare globes from him, and rather than ship these globes, Ted simply boxed them all up and loaded them into his vehicle and headed out for a VERY BIG road trip! He had a lot of deliveries to make here in the US and he was on a mission!
He got to my place in the late evening and since we have a nice guest room here at the house, Ted settled in for some serious rest before heading west the next morning with the rest of his deliveries! We were up early and finished up the business portion of the visit before touring my collection and spending some time on discussion about the collectibles hobby!
I treasure that time that we had as collectors and friends and sharing our wisdom of the collectibles hobby. Ted truly was a gentle giant and one of the nicest people I have ever met. The world lost one of its better assets when he passed and he will truly be missed by those that had a personal connection with him. People like Ted just don't come around very often. I feel privileged to have known him. Rest in peace TED.

Here is a picture of Ted & I in my shop that afternoon of his big road trip!

True knowledge in this hobby is passing from one time to another. The people who have helped our hobby for years are slowing moving on to a better place. We need to have that knowledge passed on to keep that knowledge from dying. Sorry to hear of his passing, may his family keep the memory of his life in their hearts.

So sorry to hear of Ted's passing. I didn't know him personally but a few years ago I bought a mint Blue Sunoco globe from him for my MS70/pole light project. I was a little apprehensive to have such a nice globe shipped from Canada but he assured me it would get to me in one piece. When it arrived I could see why he was so confident. I think it would have survived anything short of a bulldozer running over it! I still have the globe on the shelf although the pump project is still "next on the list"....Rest in Peace Ted and condolences to the family.

I am just now seeing this after seeing Teds name on the list of collectors that have passed. Very sorry to hear this. I spoke with Ted quite a few times on the phone, we did quite a few trades. And talked to him multiple times at CTO.

Sorry to hear this news, I had knew he recently was diagnosed with a form of cancer, but did not know it was this severe. My thoughts are with his family.

Very sad to hear.. Didn't know many people on here, but Ted was one of the few people that I talked to quite a bit, talked to him at lots of shows and he would always be my "expert" when I had a question about globes. Really sad to hear this rest easy Ted
