I think corker tire has somewhat took the thrill out of old tire collecting. Heck of a vision on his part to buy up all those old molds. Working in firestone factory half my life, I can't help but have a interest.
I have two original Mobil tires that came with a bunch of 1936 chevrolet parts. Not sure if they are road worthy but they would look great in a tire display stand. And an original 36 chevy spare tire and rim that supports my Pegasus cookie cutter sign
I have an original Flying A "Air Wing" Tubeless Tire from the late 1950s... And have been outbid on another... So, I must admit I have been afflicted with the "bug"!... (sorry about the dust bunnies, I sweep only once or twice a month! Oh, the life of a bachelor)
I'm trying to find a few tires to match some tire signs & clocks that I have. Such as "Vacuum Cup", "McCreary" & "Badger". I'm talking tires from the 20's and 30's. Also, I know that this is really a stretch, but would be great to find a "Zev" cord tire made by Union Rubber Co. that was in our local town in late 20's. Sam
I picked up this new old stock K.S. tire and stand at a swap meet for $35.00 and added the sign for looks. Tire still has nubs on it. Looks great in front of my Texaco station.
This post is neat I found old unused Firestone tire when buying 59 ford pickup box trailer - got Western Giant cast holder @farm sale - book on ebay and looked several years - finding tire w/rim @local swap meet. Now looking for a Flying A holder as I have couple flying a tires Laroy
Love seeing your old tires and display stands. Here is my Gillette display stand with the Bear for Wear and a NOS Gillette President wide whitewall tire
