I just acquired a Bennett (Sinclair)646 gas pump and I can't figure out how to change the price per gallon. I thought at first it was just dirty a good cleaning was needed. Still no luck! What am I missing?

Assuming that you know how to change prices correctly,there's a good chance that some of your price per gallon wheels and connecting linkage are seized up, and the only way to get them working, is to have them serviced.

That's the problem, I don't know how to change the price. I've cleaned the complete mechanism and lubed all gears, etc. I assume that the pins must be pulled and slide the assembly up or down. Which they move freely. However, the pin holes won't line up on anything other than the 90¢ent.

If everything is moving freely from zero all the way up to one, then it sounds like the gear is not meshing properly in the cone gear. Try bringing it to 5 for an example, and jiggle the gear until it meshes in the cone gear, then see if the pin hole lines up.
VR's have always been a little difficult to change prices, you just need a little patience..

However, as stated in the other replies, everything has to be perfectly free. If there is any corrosion whatsoever in the linkage, it won't work. Chances are the wheels are stuck on the mounting shaft, another issue is underneath the wheels is a spring loaded plunger which pushes up into an indention in the bottom of the wheel to lock it in place. If the plunger is frozen in place, then when you try to turn the price wheel it cannot push the plunger down. In otherwords the plunger has the wheel locked. Another area that causes problems is where the shaft goes thru the top of the variator and the linkage is attached, there is a bushing that seizes up.
