I have collected Socony-Vacuum and Mobil items for over 10 years now. A few years back, I purchased this 2 gallon can on Ebay. It was the only one I had seen to that point, and the only one I've seen since. There are other cans with the Mor-Lube name, but not canned by S-V. I have never seen these cans in any period advertisements, or company produced employee magazines which I have many of, from the 1930's to the early 60's. By the look of the can, with the older spout, I would guess it's circa 1940's.
Does anyone have any knowledge of this product offered by Socony-Vacuum? I don't see why they canned this, being Mobiloil was their flagship brand for many years, even when this was on the market.
